The document describes DTect-IT, a machine monitoring system from Caron Engineering that uses custom USB sensors to monitor various aspects of CNC machines. It can monitor things like clamping force, spindle power, temperature, bearing health, and more. The system provides limit analysis, fault detection, frequency analysis, and stores all monitored data. It communicates with the CNC machine to provide feedback on conditions and make adjustments if needed. DTect-IT comes with a variety of sensor options and provides intuitive data analysis to help detect issues and enable preventative maintenance for CNC machines and tools.

Provides superior resolution at lower
power cuts in the 0 - 10 hp range
Ideal for monitoring very small tools
(less than 1 mm), right angle
heads, and other applications where
the measured cutting power is too
small to be captured with a typical
power transducer.
Detects tool wear and breakage
based on the measured power

MONITORING
FORCE Strain gauge sensors, used to measure small amounts of
force, can be used to monitor tools and machine
components where the force applied is crucial
Micro tool sensors are embedded into the
tool holder to detect even the smallest
amounts of force on micro tools

By affixing a strain gauge sensor to the yoke, DTect-IT can
measure if the machine is clamping correctly.
When the collet closes, the measured
force surpasses the undercut (blue)
limit indicating the required clamping
force is fulfilled.
If the force exceeds the middle or upper
limit, DTect-IT will trigger an alarm.

Using a LVDT sensor mounted to the top of the
spindle casing, DTect-IT can continually measure
this displacement.
As the machine heats up, it grows.
DTect-IT signals the CNC to update
tool offsets in real-time to
compensate for the displacement

The probe puts out an analog voltage when
scanning a surface, and DTect-IT can measure
and monitor this deviation from 0 as it moves
across the surface.
VOLTAGE DEVIATION
Any changes will cause the probe to deflect
and DTect-IT can measure the distance + or –
zero; and tolerance limits can be set to trigger
alarms.
Using Analog Sensor connectivity, DTect-IT can
interrogate Blum Digilog Scanning Probe data.
