EXPERIENCE / JOB ROLE
Director of own company BH Safety & Resilience Limited, offering consultancy services in the areas of
Occupational Safety, Emergency Response and Business Continuity, having undertaken health, safety and
environmental adviser roles for over 25 + years. During my career, I have been recognised by my employer as a
generalist in occupational health and safety, as well as a specialist in emergency management and
preparedness.
Over the recent years, I have been acknowledged by colleagues in both the Lancashire and Cumbria Resilience
Forums for my contributions to their work in managing emergency arrangements between the high risk
onshore and offshore gas facilities and the local emergency and support services.
I am a Mechanical Engineer by degree and joined British Gas Exploration & Production in 1991, having
previously worked in the nuclear industry as a technical safety practitioner (nuclear safety cases). I have gained
experience with British Gas, through the demerger into Centrica and have fulfilled many roles in the
occupational health and safety and environmental arenas during my career. I have become a Chartered
Engineer through the Institute of Gas Engineers & Managers (IGEM).
I have supported Morecambe Hub management and workforce offshore, at Barrow and Heysham. Throughout
this time gaining and applying general knowledge in technical safety (Offshore Safety Case and COMAH);
occupational safety management systems, legislation and implementation (to NEBOSH International Technical
Certificate in Oil & Gas Operational Safety standard); in environmental management (to Diploma in
Environmental Management standard).
I have gained specialist knowledge in Emergency Response and Business Continuity, becoming the Morecambe
Hub subject matter expert, leading local training and exercise programmes, maintaining response structures,
facilities and processes. I have been actively involved and recognised as a source of professional knowledge
and advice through active participation in the Cumbria and Lancashire Resilience Forums.
I am computer literate, being proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, plus Airsweb,
Credit 360, SAP, Agility, Atlas CBT training administration (PTW / Risk Assessment).
