EXPERIENCE SUMMARY
Capable consultation to mitigate hazards and risks with realistic, cost effective strategies
Private Engineering Practice 1995 - Present
Providing consulting engineering services in fire protection, loss prevention, risk management, and explosion analysis.
Some of the most significant consulting work and clients have been:
● Analyze the fire risk of insulation installed on process vessels and analyze the choices of safety-of-life-at-sea (SOLAS) evacuation
equipment for an offshore platform under construction for Hibernia Management & Development Co. in Newfoundland.
● Develop & present a training program about ignition from static electricity at gasoline retail facilities for Ashland Oil.
● Develop a 3-day training course entitled “Design & Loss Prevention for Fuel Loading Facilities” and present the course at four
locations for ARAMCO in Saudi Arabia.
● Perform a process safety inspection and a HAZOP for a GATX New Jersey USA fuel loading facility for trucks and railcars.
● Investigate and analyze a fire at a lubrication oil & wax production facility for Witco.
● Inspect a floating-production-storage-offloading (FPSO) vessel offshore of Equatorial Guinea, Africa.
● Inspect, analyze, design and assist in the oversight during construction of improvements to fire protection, health, and safety at an
extremely large, strategic, underground fuel storage facility at Pearl Harbor for the U.S. Navy – Fuel Division.
● Serve as the Risk Management Engineer for Occidental of Oman for the Safah Facilities for 12 months via short-term subcontract.
MOBIL RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, PENNINGTON, NJ 1981 - 1995
Engineering Department, Associate Loss Prevention Engineer
Provided engineering support and technical assistance to all of Mobil’s affiliate companies in regards to:
onshore and offshore process & facility design to minimize risks, process safety & hazards analysis, fire protection and safety system
design, explosion suppression techniques & analysis, applications of fireproofing materials, pressure relieving and flare system
design and, fire & accident investigations. Most significant assignment was to participate with an engineering team from 1989 to
1993 to analyze and determine solutions to mitigate explosion and fire risks on offshore platforms in the North Sea in order to
convince UK regulators that an accident like the 1988 “Piper Alpha” accident would not be possible on Mobil offshore platforms.
GOODYEAR ATOMIC CORPORATION, PIKETON, OH 1974 - 1981
Section Head of Fire Protection
Administered a highly protected risk (HPR) fire protection program. Supervised a staff of three engineers and six fire department
officers of a 20-person full time fire department that also inspected, tested and maintained all fixed fire protection systems.
Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Pacific Division, Honolulu, HI 1973 - 1974
Fire Protection Engineer
