the ASME B73.3 standard for

• The CSA Frame 1 follows on from
the existing HMD Kontro GSA
Frame 1 range introduced in
the 1990s.
• CSA Frame 1 dimensionally conforms to the ASME B73.1 standard, offering a simple
sealed-to-sealless upgrade solution for mechanically sealed pumps.
• CSA casings are interchangeable with GSA casings, providing an easy upgrade path for
existing GSA pumps to incorporate the latest technical features of the CSA pump range 1.
The CSA Frame 1 is available from stock for both close-coupled and separately-mounted
configurations, along with the Zeroloss containment shell option.

The Kontro Quarterly Salutes James Brice
Celebrating one year as an HMD Kontro Field Service Engineer, James Brice arrived at
the company with 10 years of experience in the pump industry. His pump expertise has
served the Stock Depot many times over in his first year at HMD.
James greatly appreciates the company’s work ethic. He compares the HMD culture to a
large, unified family with several different teams, always working toward the same objective.
He is gratified that every team member has a voice and is encouraged to express
his/her thoughts and ideas, all of which makes the individual teams stronger and leads to
the desired outcomes.
Outside of work, James enjoys attending his son’s football matches. As a massive British / world superbike fan,
he often attends race weekends. He also likes to play a round of golf and participate in clay-pigeon shooting.
The Kontro Quarterly proudly salutes James Brice and thanks him for his expertise in helping the
Stock Depot address pump challenges.

HMD Kontro Sets Workplace Safety Record
December 7 of this year marked 2,000 days since the last HMD on-site recordable
accident (TRIR). This impressive milestone was achieved through the vigilance and
effort over the past few years of each and every employee at HMD Kontro Sealless Pumps, ensuring that
their workplace remains a safer working space for all.
To Note: A ‘recordable’ accident or incident is that which has resulted in an injury defined by required work
time for treatment and recovery. It does not account for minor incidents, such as near misses or small cuts
that require band-aids.
To put the record in context, according to the Health and Safety Statistics
2022 (www.hse.gov.uk) with a national workplace recordable injury rate of
2.8 per year (per 100,000 workers), the manufacturing industry has some
of the statistically highest rates for workplace accidents and ill health
across the UK, giving context to the significant achievement of 2,000 safe
days at HMD Kontro!
YA Thanksgiving CelebrationZ
The Stock Depot, along with Liquid Handling Equipment, hosted
an annual Thanksgiving luncheon the Wednesday before the holiday.
Seventy-two people, both guests and employees, attended the
celebration that has become a tradition of appreciation, gratitude
and community.
The first year 10 people joined us, which tells the story
of our growth and success in welcoming seven times
over as many people this year!

As the year is winding down, this is a reminder that the Stock Depot is fully

Bush Holder Improvements
with the Superior CSA
The HMD Kontro CSA Frame 1 pump range has been engineered with the simplicity of a singular bush
holder design for all temperatures. With this innovation, the CSA is more standardized than the GSA.
There is also a single-piece radial-and-thrust design between the internal bushings. Bushing retention is
created by an o-ring and flats, both of which are designed to have a pressed fit rather than the “hot working”,
making their replacement on site easily serviceable!
Upon request, the Stock Depot can now offer carbon graphite bushings instead of standard silicon bushings.
Carbon is consistent in performance with fluids and has good lubricating qualities that normally will enable the
pump to survive a short period of dry running.
