1. The GSA (ASME-standard) Frame 0 Pump is one
of three HMD Kontro general-service-application
pumps designed for comprehensive duty and
extensive applications. The Frame 0, along with the
GSA Frame I and Frame II pumps, maximizes
the interchangeability of components and
can be supplied in either close-coupled or
separate-mounted configurations.
The close-coupled option is outside the
scope of ANSI specifications, often referred
to as “Sub-Ansi”. The GSA 0 pump’s casing
remains dimensionally interchangeable.
All liquid ends are interchangeable within
the frame size, as are drive components;
all of which provide the optimum match of
hydraulic and magnetic performance.
The GSA Frame 0 pump is engineered with a single fully-trapped gasket, sealing the pressure boundary
(to prevent blow out). The gasket is constructed of compressed synthetic fiber (CSF), with options of
PTFE or Graphite. All Tapped openings (casing drain, RTD or Thermocouple) are plugged with material
to match the casing.

Salute
The Kontro Quarterly Salutes Steven Miles Streek
For 23 consecutive years / 33 total intermittent years, Steve Streek has served
HMD Kontro in numerous positions from lathe turner to R&D technician to contractor,
evolving to fitter / machinist / project leader to shift supervisor and finally to field service
engineer / customer services.
Steve reminisces about his varied and storied career at HMD Kontro. He made multiple
attempts to leave, but always returned because of circumstances. His job history is
an interesting one that entails immigrating to Canada, working at a chicken factory for
three years and a vacuum pump company for eight. Once securely back in the HMD
fold since September 2007, Steve has stayed put, albeit in different positions.
Steve loves working at HMD because of the friends he has made over the years, some of whom have remained
steadfast for the past 33 years! Steve claims, “We can’t see ourselves anywhere else. Goodness knows, I’ve tried.”
Outside of work, Steve has a love / hate relationship with the gym. Working out helps
with his love of good food washed down with a few beers.
He enjoys soccer, which he still plays at the semi-pro level. Steve runs marathons, has
competed in triathlons, and has taken part in different sports from cricket to water skiing.
It seems HMD runs in the family. Steve met his wife Kim when she was employed by
HMD and his daughter Katy has worked several summers as a document controller
for the HMD contracts team. Spending time with his family is always a priority. Steve’s
daughter at 17 is a challenge, particularly since, as he claims, “She thinks I’m from
another planet!”
Proud to represent HMD Kontro, Steve believes in the quality and value of HMD Kontro
pumps. “I think our pumps are the simplest designed and the easiest to maintain when
used properly. My current job is always challenging because I have to discover how or
why a pump isn’t performing right.”

for any ancillary cooling medium. Design working
pressure is 18.9 bar, 275 psi.
