4. Our Valleys and Waterfalls tour
showcases our amazing
Hamakua Heritage Coastal
region with its diverse scenery
from 400ft waterfalls to its
bridges crossing deep cleft
valleys each with entirely
different vegetation patterns in
wild variety.
This tour is designed to take
advantage of both seasonal and
daily weather changes as well as
varying passenger loads from
one to a van full, and may take
smaller numbers for an intense
look at the beauty within 14
miles of Hilo including the
Scenic Route and Akaka
Falls...or for larger numbers, a
long ranging tour as far as
Waipio Valley.
5. There is no set route
nor list of sites as each
tour is as different as
the guides who lead it,
some with stories of
family growing up in
the villages you will
pass through .
We make a stop at the
local farmers market
before heading to the
falls, where you can
grab a bite to eat or
some souvenirs for
home!

Park.
From Kilauea Iki
Crater to the
Thurston Lava Tube,
discover remarkable
volcanic formations
and geothermal
steam vents, stop at
the Jaggar Museum
and see the awesome
fury of the
Halema’uma’u
Crater’s lava lake.

13. Our guide will take you on
a 50 minute drive up to the
Visitors Center where you
will have 30 minutes to
acclimate to the climate.
You can feel free to eat any
lunch you bring or
purchase food from the
shop inside the VIS Center.
14. After the VIS Center,
you will ascend
13,796 ft to the
summit of Mauna
Kea to watch the
sunset.
There is an optional
½ mile hike to the
summit.
15. After the sunset, your
tour guide will take you
back down to 9,000
feet.

elevation for
stargazing! Your tour
guide will give you a
description of our
constellations'.
