• Stops erosion & forms canopy for food crops
• Retains soil moisture & trap/conserve rain water
and improve soil fertility from falling leaves acting
as mulch
• Can be harvested 5-6 years after first planting and
continuously each year after, getting more each
year!
• Provides handicrafts, furniture, homes, implements,
etc
• Is essential for Bali Hindu life and religious
ceremonies
