The Seed Cup 2020 is a village-level competition aiming to create and plant the most seed balls in one week before the monsoon, addressing forest monoculture and increasing human-animal conflict. Participants will create seed bombs using local seeds and distribute them for planting in designated areas, with counting and monitoring organized by village volunteers. The competition will run from July 1 to July 10, 2020, culminating in a winner receiving the seed ball champion trophy and prizes.

2. PROBLEM
Our forests today are primarily timber
monoculture lacking in traditional fruiting
and medicinal plants.This causes many
problems.

changed to primarily wood production

The hilly terrain does not lend very well to
traditional planting techniques

Because of lack of fruiting trees in jungle
,human-animal conflict is also increasing

4. SEED BOMBING
The Solution is Seed Bombing. Seed bombs
are an ancient Japanese practice called Tsuchi
Dango, meaning ‘Earth Dumpling’ (seed bombs
are made from clay earth). Seed bombs were
reintroduced in 1938 by a Japanese
microbiologist/ farmer Masanobu
Fukuoka (1913–2008).
