Philippine English is impressive. Many nationalities are impressed with how we
speak and adapt some accents. According to Dr. Salazar, it is "one of the most
understandable dialects globally." "This is one of the reason why the call center industry
in the Philippines is so successful," she stated. "We don't have to sound American to
speak English correctly," she added. Filipinos speak English in their unique fashion,
which should be admired rather than feel ashamed. I have this kind of attitude towards
Philippine English because I am a Filipino, and I use Philippine English when
communicating. Filipinos can develop a sense of pride in Philippine English when
welcomed and adopted what was once a bizarre language. Furthermore, English's
continuous presence in the Philippines creates many divisive issues, including global
and subnational identity, teaching methods, and linguistic issues. Regardless of how
these issues are handled, Filipinos—with their rich indigenous background, vivid
cultural history, and bilingualism made an indelible mark on the language in the little
more than a century that English has been on their islands.
