Thesis For Inequality
By asking for 'In what ways', the question wants me to explain or interpret the proposition of how gender basis is a basis for inequality in
contemporary society, by using relevant sociological theories and research. I need to supply evidence of how gender manages to persist as a basis or
principle for inequality in the modern world and link this analysis to sociological concepts. From my observation gender is a basis for inequality,
especially cultural aspects; such as family, educational institutions and the media.
Key concepts: Gender order, Hegemonic masculinity,Feminism , stereotypes , gender socialisation and gender segregation.
Relevant sources of information found

Outline and define key sociological concepts: Hegemonic masculinity, gender socialisation and patriarchy from primary and secondary sources.
2.I will discuss how gender manages to persist as a basis or principle for inequality in the modern world. I will use statistics of the divide in labour,
economic income and hierarchy in the work force between men and women. I will use Pietsch data graphs from the 'Dimensions of Australian Society'
2010, as evidence and relate them to hegemonic masculinity and patriarchy in the work force.
3.Discuss the construction of gender and how it is formed from a young age and continues through to adulthood, linking to the formation of gender and
sexual identity. I will use Szirom example of gender socialisation: primary, secondary and territory environments.
4.Outlines masculinity politics in school such as the belief of "manhood' must be earned and the difference in biology between men and women has
seemed to justify traditionally defined roles and stereotyping in sport and physical education. I will link this to Bourdieu's concept of 'masculine

1.State why it is necessary to talk about concepts or ideas in philosophy of language in addition to words. And state what issues result from recognizing
concepts in addition to words.
It is very necessary to discuss concepts/ideas in philosophy in addition to words, it brings about the relationship of generalization and common ground.
This discussion also brings to the surface questions about communication and understanding, how relevant or particular it is or not. How do we know
what someone is saying opposed to what they are thinking when there is a universal language in which multiple words mean the same thing. So
philosophy helps to bring about a better questions to what words, communication, generalization, and concepts/ideas really...show more content...

fix this is few, there are too many individual perceptions of how things should be done and what right or wrong. There is one in particular that stands
out is compensation. It should be used to encourage the hand in a more positive way that is directed toward the

Essay on Think & Grow Rich
January 24, 2011
Think & Grow Rich Most people in today's society define success as someone who makes a lot of money or has done something important to help
form today's society. People such as Bill Gates or Donald Trump are considered successful because they have lots of money. Even actors whose lives
are wrecked and destroyed are considered successful because of the money they have. Others, like Thomas Edison, are considered successful because of
accomplishments they achieved in their lives. Thomas Edison, for example, created the light bulb, so most people would consider him successful. In
his book, Think & Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill gives 13 steps on how to have the right mindset, attitude, and ability to become successful. The...show

Is the forth step to thinking rich. For example, a person who wants to be a youth minister should study how to be a youth pastor. One thing that
really helps is by having a mentor. For a person wanting to be a youth pastor, an internship under a youth pastor would be extremely helpful. Not
only would they guide you and give you advice, but you would also get to be behind the scenes and see how things really work. And the whole time
you would have someone to help you. Mentors keep you accountable, teach you, and give you advice. The fifth step to thinking like a rich is by using
your imagination. In order to do big things, you must think of big things. To think big, you must be able to take a vague idea, and turn it into something
concrete. For a lot of people, this is a big reason why they don't reach success. They see the goal, but they don't have the imagination to be able to
make a path on how to get there and reach their desires. A person must be able to plan their path to success, which is the sixth step. Organized
planning is important to thinking big also. Hill gave four basic steps to how to best plan your path to success. First, he suggested that you that you
should surround yourself with people who will give you knowledge and help you work towards your goal. The second thing he suggests is to find a
job that will help you work towards your dream. In some cases, even an internship would be very

A download manager is a computer program dedicated to the task of downloading (and sometimes uploading) possibly unrelated stand–alone files from
(and sometimes to) the Internet for storage. This project is aimed to develop a multi–thread segmented Download Manager that manages multiple
segmented downloads and supports HTTP, FTP and video downloads. 1.1Purpose A typical download manager at a minimum provides means to
recover from errors without losing the work already completed, and can optionally split the file to be downloaded (or uploaded) into 2 or more
segments, which are then moved in parallel, potentially making the process faster within the limits of the available bandwidth. 1.2Scope The proposed

The Impact of a Pandemic
The world has experienced a total of four pandemics within the twentieth century. These pandemics, as horrific and deadly as they are, have brought so
much more positive advances to our health care system and how we prepare for biological threats. Although we are in the twenty–first century and we
have advanced so far in healthcare, there is still the possibility of a deadly pandemic. Many people may confuse Pandemic with Epidemic which can
often times lead to being over prepared or under prepared. An epidemic as an infectious disease that quickly travels within a city, state, or country
from person to person. An example of an epidemic would be SARS, which spread through many countries and killed roughly 800 people. On the
other hand, Pandemics differ because the infectious disease is spread globally. A pandemic has a much higher infectious rate and an even larger
death rate compared to an epidemic. The world has experienced a total of four pandemics in the twentieth century starting in 1918 until present. In
1918, the spanish flu caught worldwide attention when it infected close to half the population of the world, claiming more than 40 million lives.
What made the spanish flu capable of infecting over a billion people was the ability to quickly transfer from person to person. At the time, world war
1 was happening and the mass activation and recruitment of troops to fight made the spread of the flu easy. The Asian flu of 1957 was second deadly

Music Downloading Essay examples
Music downloading is one of the biggest phenomenon's to hit the market in the past decade, and undoubtedly you've downloaded some music yourself.
But lately music downloading has become an issue, and record companies along with their artists have tried to stop this new wave from happening.
Though some people consider file sharing illegal; I believe it's absolutely necessary for musicians to get there names out, and for music lovers to hear
there sound.
Viranda Normand said it best "Most artists are dying for exposure, he explained, so when the record labels hold back music like candy from a child, it's
not about the fans anymore. It's about some pre–planned release schedule that's coordinated for business. It's about the money." As a...show more

Brian) Though Napster has changed, there is still several other file sharing sites out there. Morpheous and my favorite, Bearshare are free download
sites that have found legal loopholes for having this kind of website.
"When FM radio began taking away listeners from the inferior sounding AM band in the late 60's the recording industry viewed that as a threat to their
sales. "Why" they said "People will begin taping off the radio onto reel–to–reel tapes and they will have a near perfect analog
master...people will never buy records again". People still bought vinyl LPs and 45s by the truckload". (Knab, Christopher) I have thousands of
music files on my computer at home, and just because I have them, doesn't mean I don't buy cd's. Music shouldn't be about record sales, after all isn't
music about getting your sound out for everyone to hear? My bands website, (LettersForJune.com) visit for Free music.

Essay on Is Music Downloading A Good Idea?
Nowadays, most people can search for what they want through the Internet. The Internet has become powerful because it allows people to share or
copy music, pictures, movies, software and different formats of documents. We know the Internet allows sharing of all kinds of information but that
doesn't mean it should be unrestricted. Through the Internet, people can find many materials and download them as references or for general
interest, and some of these files are cheap or even free. Therefore, music downloading has become a popular way for people to get audio files. As
downloading becomes a prevailing way to share information, the government decides to develop copyright laws to limit people. It can protect a

The mp3 file makes music piracy become easier and more convenient. And with this new digital audio format plus CD burning software, you can
make yourself a new album from your computer. Wicknick (n.d.) in the 20th century, many files are shared online and they are illegal. Many people
still knowingly violate the state law. However, if we still download an artist's whole album in the illegal way, the artist and the music company have a
right to sue us for invading their intellectual property.
According to Fitzpatrick (2000) concludes the downloading will still be a promotional tool, but music must get into people's lives. Therefore,
download market it will become poplar even people need to pay for them. Gopal, Bhattacharjee and Sanders (2006) indicate technology that facilitates
such online sampling of digital audio and other digital goods is improving rapidly. Various software packages make it increasingly easier for consumers
to search, download, and subsequently share music files on line with others. We can understand nowadays, but another very important thing is security
issues that could have illegal loophole waiting someone to steal it. Companies cannot guarantee Internet downloading that everyone will use to legalize.
In this problem artists will become most victims because they lose their benefit from online music sharing.
According to Atwood (1997) points out many people can use the Internet to download

Essay on Illegal Music Downloading
Ever since the start of illegal music downloading there has been an ongoing debate. As with any controversy, there are those whose positions stand at
one end of the spectrum or the other and also those who are moderate or nonchalant. Many believe that downloading a song without paying for it is not
only illegal, but also immoral. None–the less, people continue to download songs, rationalizing that the record companies are getting what they
deserve after years of overpriced CD's or that the artists won't really miss the money. Some people are not sure what to make of the situation,
sympathizing in some respects with either side. There are several proposed solutions to this problem, but it has become obvious that there is not easy

Companies like Apple, have decided that it is best to get in with the downloading business. However, an end to the illegal downloading conflict
remains to be realized. The RIAA and associated artists continue to wage war against illegal downloaders while computer savvy audiences persist in
sharing music files online every day. While it is undoubtedly true that downloading music is a crime, it remains to be proven that it is wrong. Without
establishing this principle, most downloader's are likely to continue the activity. Even with new, inexpensive and available means of downloading
files, they can still be shared for free online. The rift must be repaired between music lovers who feel that they have been taken advantage of in the
past and recording companies and artists who worry about their future livelihood. I believe that at the heart of this controversy is a drive to bring music
production into the twenty–first century. Making CD's more accessible, economical and usable benefits all everyone except maybe the CD producers,
in the end. Listeners can access music when, where and how they want to for less money, as the have grown accustomed to doing. Musicians cut out
the middleman, allowing them to keep more of the profit. This is undoubtedly the future of the industry. While companies are searching for ways to
hold on to 90 percent of the profit and to continue to combat illegal downloading, others are negotiating new terrain

The character of Mama in the short story "Everyday Use" by Alice Walker endures through intense times and takes advantage of what she has. She is a

Maggie absence of self–confidence make her frightened to look. She imagines that on the off chance that she can't see the individuals around her,
then they can't see her. What's more, Maggie's discernible scars have impacted on the way she conducts herself. As indicated by Mama, when she

Even being an average person can be very difficult. If you look at a large amount of people in this world, they are average or below average in
most things they do. No one can be good at everything, so don't ever think you have to be. Feeling pressured to be great at everything is one thing
no one should ever have to go through. All it seems to do is tear down people's' self esteem creating more reserved and quiet people. Life is hard,
and if it were meant to be easy, everyone would be good at everything and the majority of things would be meaningless. So, what would be the point of
living a meaningless life? Take every situation in life and live it with the intention that it will be the

An evaluation of the government solution on homelessness
Family is such a simple word and many people take their own family and home for granted. However, Australian society still has people, who can
not enjoy the advantage of a family life, and do not have shelter. On census night in 2011, 17% in every 10,000 people were estimated to be
homeless. The present situation is, 39% of the homeless people live in overcrowded houses and approximately 20% people live in supported houses
(ABS 2012). The latest definition of homelessness is, people who live in temporary houses, have no tenure and do not have enough space for social
relations (Justin 2006). Homelessness is a growing problem in Australia and it has spread quickly and influences to different kind of people. The rapid
increase of homeless issues has influenced various people and the government should put forward corresponding solutions for these causes. This essay
will introduce five main reasons which cause homelessness and the government attitude and will describe three homelessness issues and evaluate each
of them respectively.
There are five major reasons to cause homelessness. The widespread reason of homelessness was mental illness and addiction. And then, it is family
breakdown, especially domestic violence. The third is economic problems, including unemployment and poverty. Next, it is a scarcity of affordable
housing. The last reason is government does not provide enough service for people. Homelessness is a

Freshman Year Essay
Freshman year will be a experience to remember. You get freedom and fell mature.Classes however, are getting dificult. In High School you must

grade as your motivation to try harder. It's important to know your interests, abilities, and goals because it motivates you to try hard and because it
will insure that your career makes you happy. The process of researching on the BLS website was informational. Through that experience I was able

you get paid, what your responsibility is, and etc. You can also find information on the gross income, net income, and monthly net income of that career.
A gross income is your starting salary, a net income salary is the amount after paying taxes, and a monthly net income is how much amount you earn

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Education
Education is undeniably vital and essential for people from all walks of life. Education is the key to success, and as we all know it, there are too
many reason why education is important in our lives but none on the disadvantages of it because education only brings benefits towards us. According
to Oxford Dictionary, the word 'education' is derived from Latin, Д“ducДЃtiЕЌ in the mid–16th century and is defined as "the process of receiving or
giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university." The origin of education began as story–telling passed knowledge and now it has

Students are often heard whining to their parents about school and finding a thousand and one excuses not to go to school but as little as we realize,
schools actually help build our character and leads us to our career progression. An educated individual is capable of planning for the future, choosing
the right decisions in life and behaving appropriately. Education is not only a pathway to our career but also paves the path to disillusionment. It gives
us the insight on what is right and wrong, making clear judgements and shapes our personalities. The nation's growth depends on the literacy of the
people. "Education is much more than an entry to the job market. It has the power to shape a sustainable future and better world." (Unknown, 2012)
With the help of education, one can easily get an entry of a job while at the same time help develop the nation. Most countries realized that in this
competitive world, education is important for the social progress and economic growth of a nation. As John F. Kennedy quotes, "our progress as a
nation can be no swifter than our progress in education. The human mind is our fundamental resource." In simple words, brain beats brawn, which is
used to define a country. A country with no education cannot win over a country with enhanced technology and strategic

  • 2. Thesis For Inequality By asking for 'In what ways', the question wants me to explain or interpret the proposition of how gender basis is a basis for inequality in contemporary society, by using relevant sociological theories and research. I need to supply evidence of how gender manages to persist as a basis or principle for inequality in the modern world and link this analysis to sociological concepts. From my observation gender is a basis for inequality, especially cultural aspects; such as family, educational institutions and the media. Key concepts: Gender order, Hegemonic masculinity,Feminism , stereotypes , gender socialisation and gender segregation. Relevant sources of information found 1.Pietsch, J., 2010. Outline and define key sociological concepts: Hegemonic masculinity, gender socialisation and patriarchy from primary and secondary sources. 2.I will discuss how gender manages to persist as a basis or principle for inequality in the modern world. I will use statistics of the divide in labour, economic income and hierarchy in the work force between men and women. I will use Pietsch data graphs from the 'Dimensions of Australian Society' 2010, as evidence and relate them to hegemonic masculinity and patriarchy in the work force. 3.Discuss the construction of gender and how it is formed from a young age and continues through to adulthood, linking to the formation of gender and sexual identity. I will use Szirom example of gender socialisation: primary, secondary and territory environments. 4.Outlines masculinity politics in school such as the belief of "manhood' must be earned and the difference in biology between men and women has seemed to justify traditionally defined roles and stereotyping in sport and physical education. I will link this to Bourdieu's concept of 'masculine Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Intro To Philosophy Essay Sandra Connors PHIL–11000–061 Intro to Philosophy Written Assignment Two 1.State why it is necessary to talk about concepts or ideas in philosophy of language in addition to words. And state what issues result from recognizing concepts in addition to words. It is very necessary to discuss concepts/ideas in philosophy in addition to words, it brings about the relationship of generalization and common ground. This discussion also brings to the surface questions about communication and understanding, how relevant or particular it is or not. How do we know what someone is saying opposed to what they are thinking when there is a universal language in which multiple words mean the same thing. • 4. Essay on Think & Grow Rich January 24, 2011 Think & Grow Rich Most people in today's society define success as someone who makes a lot of money or has done something important to help form today's society. People such as Bill Gates or Donald Trump are considered successful because they have lots of money. Even actors whose lives are wrecked and destroyed are considered successful because of the money they have. Others, like Thomas Edison, are considered successful because of accomplishments they achieved in their lives. Thomas Edison, for example, created the light bulb, so most people would consider him successful. In his book, Think & Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill gives 13 steps on how to have the right mindset, attitude, and ability to become successful. The...show more content... Is the forth step to thinking rich. For example, a person who wants to be a youth minister should study how to be a youth pastor. One thing that really helps is by having a mentor. For a person wanting to be a youth pastor, an internship under a youth pastor would be extremely helpful. Not only would they guide you and give you advice, but you would also get to be behind the scenes and see how things really work. And the whole time you would have someone to help you. Mentors keep you accountable, teach you, and give you advice. The fifth step to thinking like a rich is by using your imagination. In order to do big things, you must think of big things. To think big, you must be able to take a vague idea, and turn it into something concrete. For a lot of people, this is a big reason why they don't reach success. They see the goal, but they don't have the imagination to be able to make a path on how to get there and reach their desires. A person must be able to plan their path to success, which is the sixth step. Organized planning is important to thinking big also. Hill gave four basic steps to how to best plan your path to success. First, he suggested that you that you should surround yourself with people who will give you knowledge and help you work towards your goal. The second thing he suggests is to find a job that will help you work towards your dream. In some cases, even an internship would be very Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 8. The Impact of a Pandemic The world has experienced a total of four pandemics within the twentieth century. These pandemics, as horrific and deadly as they are, have brought so much more positive advances to our health care system and how we prepare for biological threats. Although we are in the twenty–first century and we have advanced so far in healthcare, there is still the possibility of a deadly pandemic. Many people may confuse Pandemic with Epidemic which can often times lead to being over prepared or under prepared. An epidemic as an infectious disease that quickly travels within a city, state, or country from person to person. An example of an epidemic would be SARS, which spread through many countries and killed roughly 800 people. On the other hand, Pandemics differ because the infectious disease is spread globally. A pandemic has a much higher infectious rate and an even larger death rate compared to an epidemic. The world has experienced a total of four pandemics in the twentieth century starting in 1918 until present. In 1918, the spanish flu caught worldwide attention when it infected close to half the population of the world, claiming more than 40 million lives. What made the spanish flu capable of infecting over a billion people was the ability to quickly transfer from person to person. At the time, world war 1 was happening and the mass activation and recruitment of troops to fight made the spread of the flu easy. The Asian flu of 1957 was second deadly pandemic to hit the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Music Downloading Essay examples Music downloading is one of the biggest phenomenon's to hit the market in the past decade, and undoubtedly you've downloaded some music yourself. But lately music downloading has become an issue, and record companies along with their artists have tried to stop this new wave from happening. Though some people consider file sharing illegal; I believe it's absolutely necessary for musicians to get there names out, and for music lovers to hear there sound. Viranda Normand said it best "Most artists are dying for exposure, he explained, so when the record labels hold back music like candy from a child, it's not about the fans anymore. It's about some pre–planned release schedule that's coordinated for business. It's about the money." As a...show more content... (Chillis, Brian) Though Napster has changed, there is still several other file sharing sites out there. Morpheous and my favorite, Bearshare are free download sites that have found legal loopholes for having this kind of website. "When FM radio began taking away listeners from the inferior sounding AM band in the late 60's the recording industry viewed that as a threat to their sales. "Why" they said "People will begin taping off the radio onto reel–to–reel tapes and they will have a near perfect analog master...people will never buy records again". People still bought vinyl LPs and 45s by the truckload". (Knab, Christopher) I have thousands of music files on my computer at home, and just because I have them, doesn't mean I don't buy cd's. Music shouldn't be about record sales, after all isn't music about getting your sound out for everyone to hear? My bands website, (LettersForJune.com) visit for Free music. • 11. Essay on Is Music Downloading A Good Idea? Nowadays, most people can search for what they want through the Internet. The Internet has become powerful because it allows people to share or copy music, pictures, movies, software and different formats of documents. We know the Internet allows sharing of all kinds of information but that doesn't mean it should be unrestricted. Through the Internet, people can find many materials and download them as references or for general interest, and some of these files are cheap or even free. Therefore, music downloading has become a popular way for people to get audio files. As downloading becomes a prevailing way to share information, the government decides to develop copyright laws to limit people. It can protect a creator's rights and prevent...show more content... The mp3 file makes music piracy become easier and more convenient. And with this new digital audio format plus CD burning software, you can make yourself a new album from your computer. Wicknick (n.d.) in the 20th century, many files are shared online and they are illegal. Many people still knowingly violate the state law. However, if we still download an artist's whole album in the illegal way, the artist and the music company have a right to sue us for invading their intellectual property. According to Fitzpatrick (2000) concludes the downloading will still be a promotional tool, but music must get into people's lives. Therefore, download market it will become poplar even people need to pay for them. Gopal, Bhattacharjee and Sanders (2006) indicate technology that facilitates such online sampling of digital audio and other digital goods is improving rapidly. Various software packages make it increasingly easier for consumers to search, download, and subsequently share music files on line with others. We can understand nowadays, but another very important thing is security issues that could have illegal loophole waiting someone to steal it. Companies cannot guarantee Internet downloading that everyone will use to legalize. In this problem artists will become most victims because they lose their benefit from online music sharing. According to Atwood (1997) points out many people can use the Internet to download Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Essay on Illegal Music Downloading Ever since the start of illegal music downloading there has been an ongoing debate. As with any controversy, there are those whose positions stand at one end of the spectrum or the other and also those who are moderate or nonchalant. Many believe that downloading a song without paying for it is not only illegal, but also immoral. None–the less, people continue to download songs, rationalizing that the record companies are getting what they deserve after years of overpriced CD's or that the artists won't really miss the money.
