1. I thinkthat a documentarycanbe objective asthe personwhoismakingthe documentarycouldbe
biasedonthe topicor situationinwhichhe orshe is documenting.Theythencouldmake the
documentaryverybiasedbyonlyaddingfootage andinterviews thattheydeemtobe correct.
AnotherreasonwhyIbelieve thatadocumentarycanbe biasedisbecause the peoplewhoare
makingthe documentarycaneasilyportraypeople inabad or goodlightbyjust cuttingsectionsout.
Theycouldalsoof easilyusedthe technique 'frankenbiting',tochange whatthe intervieweeswere
sayingto make themlookbador good, bytakingout 'sound-bites'toremove andaddwordsintothe
interview tomake itsoundverydifferenttowhatitoriginallywas. Alsomostdocumentarieshave to
be to a certainstandardbefore theygetpublished, andthe footage couldeasilybe editedtothisset
standardthat the directorwants.Howeverthe documentarycouldhave archival content, whichis
footage thatis sourcedfromanothersource.Thiswouldmeanthatthe footage islikelytobe valid,
as it hascome fromanothersource otherthan yourown. But, that footage couldalsobe biasedand
objective towardssomething, andthatsource couldhave easilyeditedthe footage totheirliking.
AnotherreasonwhyIbelieve thatadocumentarycanbe objective isforthe director'spersonal gain,
as if he makesthe documentarymore interestingbyeditingfootageitcanattract more attention.
Whichleadsto the directorgettingmore attentionandincome frompeoplewatchingthe
documentary.
I personallythinkthatwe shouldnotbelieve everythingwe see andreadtoday, asa lot of contentin
our age is fake, fromnewstofacts and quotes.Thisisbecause peoplehave the powerof the
internetandeditingprogramsattheirfingertips.Itmeansthattheycan easilychange manipulate
and change contentlike manipulatinganimage usingAdobe Photoshop.Alsobecause of the
internetfake newscanbe passedaroundveryeasilywithsocial networkingsite such asFacebook,
where thingscanbe sharedto thousandsof otherpeople all overthe world. One reasonwhyI
believepeople shouldn'tbelieveeverythingtheyread, inthe news'case isbecause the newscan
easilymanipulate andchange contenttotheirliking tosupportgroupsthatpay themto write good
thingsaboutthemand promote them, suchas political parties.Alsothe newsare more likelyto
change a storyto make it soundmore interestingsothatyouare more likelytoreadit. The newsare
more likely totryand swaypeople'sopinionsoncertainmatters, bychangingastory or addingfake
news.
It ishard to make sure what a documentarypresentsasa fact,is true as we were notthere.
However,we couldeasilydoresearchonthe matterto findoutmore fromothersourcesand the
people involvedinthe documentary. Thiswouldhelpusfindoutif the documentaryisvalidornot,
that isif the sourceswere we locate the informationfromisalsovalid. One wayinwhichwe could
findoutif it's true is lookingatthe directorsotherworkand seeingif thatistruthful.Anotherwayto
findoutif a fact presentedistruthfulornotis toofindout if the documentaryfootage wasgathered
by one source or lotsof differentsources, asif itisgatheredbylotsof differentsourcesitismore
likelytobe valid.Whereasif itsgatheredbyone source the footage ismuchmore likelytobe edited
and changedforthe viewertodepictitina certainwayto the directorsliking.
