Work History
February 2007 to present day
HMCTS at the Hull Magistrates Court.
Here I carry out court administration duties such as preparing files for going
into court and resulting files that have come out of court. I am also a clerk for
the Tribunal Services. I am the first person that the Appellant who is appealing
receipt of benefits see. I explain the process and introduce the panel members.
I show empathy and understanding as we deal with people who have both
physical and mental issues.
Leadership
On more than one occasion I have become a team leader during my time with
HMCTS, when team leaders take annual leave or are ill. I also applied for a
temporary role as team leader whilst my team leader is on paternity leave. I
received positive feedback on my interview, where I was told that the only

reason I did not get the role is because another colleague who was originally
my team leader had decided to step back down into that role.
As part of my Personal Management at HMCTS, I have taken the lead in a
Customer Service steering group. This involved carrying out customer
surveys and relaying positive and negative feedback throughout the court. I
also organised meetings with the manager of the building to find out what
could be changed as a follow-up to the survey. I received a very positive
response from everyone involved.
I have taken an active role in the introduction of on-line pleading for traffic
matters and the Single Justice Procedure. Though-out the rollout of these I
have had to attend meetings, organise and present presentations and carry out
training to all my colleagues in both the legal and admin sections.
Working with and supporting others
I work equally well as part of a team and on my own initiative. I have
provided one to one training to a number of my colleagues.
Hobbies and Interests
I enjoy spending time with my family and going to the gym. I have two
tandem sky-dive jumps. The second jump that I did, I raised £300 for the
local scouts which my son attends.
