2. OVERVIEW
The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) is a public law school established in 1986. It is
India’s first National Law University and is located in Bangalore, Karnataka. The university has
been constantly ranked among the best law institutes in India.
The university was established under the National Law School of India Act (Karnataka Act 22 of
1986) and was notified in the Official Gazette on August 29, 1987.
NLSIU was set up with a mission to reform legal education and to anchor the transformation of
the Indian Legal System through outstanding research and policy interventions.
Over the years, the university has pioneered legal education in the country. Admissions are
based on the National Law School of India University Cut Off, which varies according to different
factors.

3. NLSIU Placements:
The career service team helps students explore dynamic internship and placement opportunities for a
growth-oriented career ahead. All UG and PG candidates are engaged in the placement activities at the
university.
Internship Details:
Internship Program for UG Candidates:
• 1st and 2nd Year students are encouraged to take up an internship in February and March every year for a
period of 3 to 4 weeks.
• 3rd, 4th, and Final Year students have to go for a compulsory internship during February and March for a
period of 4 to 5 weeks.
Internship Program for LLM and MPP Candidates:
All LLM and MPP candidates must undertake a compulsory internship during February and March.
Placement Details:
Placement drives are organised for the UG students in their 4th Year and Final Trimester in March/ April
every year. The drive for the Final Year LLM students is organised during the same period.
Placement drives are also facilitated for MPP students. Deloitte, Tata Trust, Uber, FICCI, Public Health
Foundation of India (PHFI), CEEW, and others have been top recruiters for this program in the past.

4. National Law School Of India University Fee Structure:

5. • Admissions for BA LLB and LLM programs are based on marks secured in the Common Law
Admission Test (CLAT).
• MPP aspirants must have qualified in the Policy Aptitude Test (PAT).
• MBL and other Diploma Programs admissions are based on merit obtained by the candidates.
• Ph.D applicants must have passed the National Law School of India University Entrance Exam.
They need to score a minimum of 50% to be eligible for the presentation round, which will be
monitored by an expert panel. Ph.D candidates will be selected by the PG Council, based on the
panel’s judgement.
• Candidates may secure admission only after the payment of the requisite notified fee before
the last date. If they fail, they can apply afresh during the next academic year. Those failing in
the 2nd attempt may not be eligible to seek admission to Ph.D at the university.
