2. Communicating Today
Communication has become
more readily available to
workers all around the world.
Because of this, with the use of
new technology, businesses are
able to run their companies
much more smoothly with the
increase of Globalization.
Now a days, we are able to
share documents, media files,
have video conferences and so
much more, without being
limited to computers.
New technology devices such
as smartphones, tablets, and
laptops have become more
readily available for users.
3. What’s There Not To Like.
Pros:
Allows communication between
professors and students or
student to student
communication.
Enables you to view class
lectures, documents, or
resources posted by your
professor online.
It is ideal for students who
cannot take classes at school
due to work or other reasons.
Provides an online classroom
experience.
Cons:
Videos, lectures, and course documents
can be uploaded to the website
incorrectly and therefore students are
unable to access them.
Not all teachers take advantage of the
site, this makes it difficult for students
who try to stay up to date with the
material and can’t attend class.
ILearn is subjective to many system
crashes, and therefore it can
4. Criteria: With leading companies like Google, Microsoft, and Apple,
communication is ideal. For our criteria, we expect each site to be an open
source, fast, and available for the duration of the course.
Concerns: We preferably want our sites to be straight forward, have an easy
interface, and have a sharing/editing capability. Our group is concern that
we will be limited and have to result to multiple sites, rather than two or one.
Market leader: Our primary market leaders is Google Docs, which carries a
strong sharing and editing option, that allows each individual to collaborate
on their own time. Doodle creates an effective tool to plan events and
meetings for our group’s interactions in the future. Altogether our
collaboration will be based on precise resources to accommodate each
individual member.
5. Facebook
Pros:
It is a free application and it is
one of the best medium for
communication
Their is facebook groups to
connect to all your close friends
together. It has new features like
group chatting, notification, and
file sharing which will help groups
stay connected for projects,
homework, assignments, exams,
and due dates.
It also has good privacy setting
which gives you the option to
customize according to your
wish.
Cons:
Chatting does not work properly
It is addicting because it kills
people valuable time by doing
other things besides what you are
suppose to do.
People can stalk you and get
your personal information.
6. Pros:
it is an online service and it converts
the user’s documents to a compatible
format for your computer.
Documents are continuously saved in
the server while the work is being done.
People can work on document
simultaneously and view changes in
real time.
Google Docs now syncs with Google+
Hangouts, so teams can video
conference while editing documents.
Cons:
Users must have internet
connection in order to have
access to documents.
Must have Google account to
be able to log in, and have
access.
Limited features set compared
to other tools like Microsoft
Office.
Google docs is a cloud computing document -sharing service, created by Google. It is
considered a “ Software as a service” which allows users create and edit documents online
while collaborating with other users live. It is compatible with many formats such as; ODF, HTML,
PDF, RTF, Text, Office Open XML.
7. Pros:
It is free and easy to
use. The scheduling
service does not
required an account
created.
Creates a simple poll
for participants’
available times
through a provided
link.
When an account is
created, it syncs it
with Google, Icloud,
Outlook, and Yahoo
calendars to prevent
double booking.
Cons:
Just like other
online tools,
participants must
have internet
access.
Lacks the sleek
look and
sophisticated
functionality of
competing
services.
Requires a yearly
subscription fee for
more detailed
event planning.
Doodle is an easy and quick online scheduling tool. It allows the creation of schedules
through the use of polling calendars which can be sent to participants. Users and
participants are able to select and comment on the times they choose and doodle
organizes them and marks the times or days that works better for all participants.
8. Pros:
Allows you to mark annotations and
place comments on any part of your
project - so designers and clients can
collaborate to revise projects online
without sending painful e-mails, which
should ultimately increase productivity.
Elliptical, rectangular, and lasso
selections are available for annotation
- you can easily select these options at
the top of the screen, as well as colour
and weight of the shapes
When multiple team members are on
the same page, GoVisual applies
layers for each user, like in Photoshop.
Clicking on each user hides or displays
relevant content, which is particularly
useful when collaborating with
different departments.
Cons:
If you dont have an account you
can’t have access.
If you do not have a laptop or tablet
you want have another way to
interact with your group members.
You can’t have access through a
mobile device.
9. Winning Tools
Overall we have decided that our group’s winning tools for this project are iLearn, Google
Docs, and Doodle. These provide us with the convenience that all of them are free,
secure and open for us to use through the duration of this semester. They’re easy and
quick to use, but also very accessible and reliable for users at the moment of team
collaboration.
