5. Commercial Fire Alarm
Systems
A fire alarm system consists of three basic components:
Detection devices (smoke and heat detectors)
Alarms and notification (strobes/horns)
Suppression devices (sprinklers or devices that use gas or
chemicals)
Fire Alarm Systems Design and Installation –
NFPA 101, the Life Safety Code, denotes which occupancies are
required to have fire alarm systems.
NFPA 70, the National Electrical Code, covers equipment and
wiring, both power to the control console and zone wiring to
initiating devices and to annunciators, as well as any phone lines
for automatic calling.
UL 864 covers testing requirement for fire alarms. The
International Building Code (IBC) requires fire alarm and
sprinkler systems to be monitored by an approved supervising
station listed by theUnderwriters Laboratories (UL).
6. Crane Building Itself(ADD VDO HERE)
There are actually three ways:
1)The external climbing method, in which
the crane—the arm plus its tower—expands
upward along the outside of the building.
2)The internal climbing method, in which
the crane builds a few floors at a time from
the inside and then “jumps” to a higher
spot.
3)The “sky crane” method of airlifting in a
crane on a helicopter. (Engineers at Capital
Gate are using both of the first two
methods.)
7. PRE CAMBERED CORE
• Used in high rise building.
• One of its type.
• Used 1st curved core was used in
this project.
• The core contained more than
15000Cum.m Of concrete
reinforcement with 1000 tons of
steel.
• Vertical core is post tensioned.
• 146 tendons were used.
9. Fire-extinguishing systems
• TYPES-
• Carbon-dioxide fire-
extinguishing systems
• Clean-agent fire-extinguishing
system
• Wet-chemical fire-extinguishing
system
• Dry-chemical fire-extinguishing
system
10. THIN-WALL TECHNOLOGY -
A WALLING SYSTEM THAT COMBINES THE SPEED OF ERECTION AND QUALITY OF PRECAST CONCRETE WITH THE
STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF IN- SITU CONCRETE TO PROVIDE A HYBRID SOLUTION .
PROVIDES THE SPEED AND QUALITY OF PRE CAST CONCRETE WITH STRUCTURAL AND WATERPROOF RELIABILITY.
COMPRISES OF TWO SLABS SEPRATED AND CONNECTED BY CAST IN LATTICE GIRDERS
11. THIN-JOINT MASONARY -
A FAST, CLEAN AND ACCURATE SYSTEM FOR CONSTRUCTION USING AUTOCLAVED AERATED CONCRETE BLOCKS OF CLOSE
DIMENSIONAL TOLERANCE WITH 2mm TO 3mm MORTAR JOINTS.
THIN LAYER MORTAR IS PRE MIXED CEMENT BASED PRODUCT THAT ONLY REQUIRES THE ADDITION OF WATER TO MAKE AN
EASILY APPLICABLE MORTAR.
THE BENEFITS OFFEREDX BY THIN LAYER MORTARS ARE PROVIDED BY A SYSTEM WITH MANY OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF
TRADITIONAL BLOCKWORK CONSTRUCTION
12. CONCLUSION AND LEARNINGS..
• THE BENEFITS OF ADVANCED AND MODERN TECHNOLOGIES OF
CONSTRUCTION ARE TOO POSITIVE TO BE IGNORED.
• ADVANCE TECHNOLOGIES CAN PROVIDE LARGE NUMBER OF
SUSTAINABLE , WELL DESIGNED CONSTRUCTION UNITS IN A SHORT PERIOD
OF TIME.
• THESE CAN ALSO AFFORD AN OPPORTUNITY TO OVERCOME THE SKILLS
SHORTAGE IN CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY THROUGH FACTORY
PRODUCTION.
• THEY WILL BE A KEY TOOL IN ADDRESSING THIS CHALLENGE AND SHOULD
BE VIEWED AS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION SECTOR TO
INCREASE CAPACITY AND CHOICE IN THE MARKET.
