Questions 16 to 21 refer to the following text.
Have you ever seen how some people run a business office? There are some professions that
have very important roles in business activities. These professions are related to each other in an
organization. The professions discussed here are banker, accountant, and secretary.
A banker is person who conducts banking. He may be the owner of a bank or he can be the
member of the board of directors who operated the bank. Bankers give loans to business offices,
firms, factories, to operate or expand their business.
An accountant is a person who has charge of the accounts of a company. He is the one who
records, keeps financial accounts and makes financial statements. He plays an important role to
make the firms remain in good financial condition.
A secretary is someone who keeps records, handles correspondence, or does the administration
for an organization or person. The assistant or private secretary of an executive always deals with
the business letter writing of that person. The secretary is, therefore, concerned with any business

Bandung as Sea of Fire was a fire that occurred in the city of Bandung on March 24, 1946. Within

British troops as part of the Brigade MacDonald arrived in Bandung on October 12, 1945. Bandung

air everywhere. The British Army began to attack so fierce. The greatest battle happened in the
Village name Dayeuh Kolot, in South Bandung, where there were a large ammunition depot
belonging to British. In this battle, Barisan Rakyat Indonesia destroyed the ammunition depot.
The strategy to fire Bandung was considered because the power of TRI and people’s militia was

The Most Unforgettable Experience in My Life
It was a dark and cold night. One of my friends suggested that we went outside to see stars.
At first we just wanted to go around and appreciate the beautiful sky decorated by many stars. But
then, we decided to go further in. All we thought about was walking and talking. It was unfortunate
that we went into the forest and got lost.
When we found we were lost, it was too late to find the way back to the cabana. Moreover,
the fog became thick quickly. Terrible fear came to my mind and made me tremble out of my
control. It was impossible for me to get out of the forest. It was hard to find the way clear because
of the dense fog. We did not know which step to follow next.
Suddenly, we saw light coming closer and closer. There was a torch which was brought by
a man who in a few minutes stood in front of us. We dared not to open our eyes until he came to
touch on our shoulders. He told us that if we got lost, he would help us to find the way. At this
moment, I was relieved because I knew I would not stay in the forest all the time. This kind man
led us to go out. It was him who ended up this terrible experience of getting lost.
It was really an unforgettable experience in my life. I will not forget it at all.

Pinocchio
Once upon a time, an old carpenter named Gepetto carved a boy-shaped puppet and
named it Pinocchio. He hoped that the boy would become a human being. A fairy heard his words
and fulfilled his wishes. He turned the puppet alive.
The fairy hoped if the boy really wanted to be a real boy, he had tobe a good boy. Gepetto
loved him very much, but Pinocchio was pretty naughty and rarely told the truth. Once he lied, his
wooden nose would grow long. He always promised to be a good boy. But he forgot his words and
skipped from school with his friends to join the circus. Now, he began to miss Gepetto.
One day, he heard that his father had been swallowed up by a very large whale. He went
directly to find the whale. The whale also swallowed him. In the belly of a whale, Pinocchio and
Gepetto were delighted to see each other. They made plans to get out and started to tickle the
whale’s belly. As the whale opened his mouth and sneezed, Pinocchio and Gepetto slipped out.
They got home safely. The fairy was pleased with Pinocchio’s courage and turned him into
a human being. From that day on, he was a very good boy and never skipped from school. Father
and son lived happily ever after.

Last school holiday, I visited my friend’s house. Her Name is Asna. There were many
activities I did there during a day. In the morning, Asna and I had breakfast with her family. We had
delicious traditional food. I liked it very much. After breakfast, she took me to the garden behind
her house. It was very big and beautiful. There are many flowers and a mango tree there. I spent a
long time playing in the garden and took mangoes. I also took pictures with those beautiful flowers.
We took a rest and had lunch under a big tree and watched butterflies and birds flying above
colorful flowers.
After visiting the garden, we went to the rabbit cage close to the mango tree. We fed the
cute rabbits and play with them. In the afternoon, we swam in the pool in the backyard. The pool
was wide and clean. I liked the pool very much. Asna was a good swimmer because she could swim
fast and knew all the swimming style. She also taught me how to swim well. I liked practice swim
with her. It was so fun. I really enjoyed my time with Asna and at 5.00 am I went home.

playing, for she could see the children were delighted.
At last she stopped. “I can dance even better than I can play,” she said. “Would you like to
see?” “Oh, please!” the little boy cried. The children laughed and clapped their hands, for never
had they seen such a wonderful thing.
Then Turtle stopped. “Don’t stop!” the children cried. “Oh,” Turtle groaned. “My legs are
stiff. “Don’t go too far,” the little girl cautioned. You wait right here.” Turtle crawled off toward the
jungle. when she was out of sight, she raced all the way back to her house.
Nobody ever found Turtle again. But sometimes you can still hear the sweet sound of a flute
in the forest.

Sumatran elephants are the smallest Asian elephants, meanwhile differing from the other
2 sub-species morphologically, anatomically and genetically by brighter skin with less de-
pigmented spots. MaleSumatran elephants generally exhibit visible tusks, which do not tend to
grow long. Tusks of female elephants are extremely short, usually being hidden under the upper
lip. During the past 25 years, these endangered animals have lost about half of their overall
population and are currently extinct from 69% of their original range as a result of deforestation.
The Sumatran elephants are highly sociable animals, forming herds of 20 - 35 or 3 - 23
(according to another source) individuals, which are dominated by the largest adult female. When
reaching the age of adolescence, males are either forced to leave the herd or do it by their own
will, typically joining the herd only for mating. Meanwhile, females continue living with the herd,
where they serve as 'nannies'. Old adult males are completely solitary due to being unable to travel
with the herds. These elephants may be active at any time of the day, although the period of
increased activity seems to occur from 2 hours before late afternoon till 2 hours before dawn,
during which they look for food.
Sumatran elephants are herbivores. The usual diet of these elephants consists of liana, bark,
banana, young leaves as well as various types of wild herbs. When coming across paddy fields or
farmlands, Sumatran elephants may also use paddy, sugar cane, young coconut leaves as well as
different fruits such as papaya.

A mangrove is a tropical marine tree. Mangroves have special aerial roots and salt-filtering
tap roots which enable them to thrive in brackish water. Brackish water is salty but not as salty as
sea water.
Mangrove trees are commonly planted and found in coastal areas. Mangroves can serve as
walls of protection for natural disaster in coastal area like tsunami. According to BBC News, healthy
mangrove forests had helped save lives in the Asia disaster tsunami and people tended to respect
these natural barriers even more, especially after the tsunami.
There are several species of mangrove tree found all over the world. Some prefer more
salinity, while others like to be very-close to a large fresh water source such as river. Some prefer
areas that are sheltered from waves. Some species have their roots covered with sea water every
day during high tide. Other species grow on dry land but are still part of the ecosystem. The Times
of India reported that rare species of mangrove had been found and was also known as the looking-
glass tree, probably because the leaves are silver-coated.
Mangroves need to keep their trunk and leave above the surface of the water. Yet they also
need to be firmly attached to the ground so they are not moved by waves. Any part of root that
appears above the water flows oxygen to the plant under water surface. as the soil begin to build
up, these roots procedure additional roots that become embedded in the soil.

The Ant and the Dove
One hot day, an ant was seeking for some water. After walking around for a moment,
she came to a spring. To reach the spring, she had to climb up a blade of grass. While making
her way up, she slipped and fell unintentionally into the water.
She could have sunk if a dove up a nearby tree had not seen her. Seeing that the ant
was in trouble, the dove quickly put off a leaf from a tree and dropped it immediately into
the water near the struggling ant. Then the ant moved towards the leaf and climbed up there.
Soon it carried her safely to dry ground.
Just at that time, there was a hunter nearby was throwing out his net towards the

Snakes are reptiles (cold-blooded creatures). They belong to the same group as lizards (the scaled
group, Squamata) but from a sub-group of their own (Serpentes).
Snakes have two legs but a long time ago they had claws to help them slither along. Snakes are
not slimy. They are covered in scales which are just bumps on the skin. Their skin is hard and
glossy to reduce friction as the snake slithers along the ground.
Snakes often sun bathe on rocks in the warm weather. This is because snakes are cold-blooded;
they need the sun’s warmth to heat their bodies up.
Most snakes live in the country. Some types of snakes live in tress, some live in water, but most
live on the ground in deserted rabbit burrows, in thick, long grass and in old logs.
A snake’s diet usually consists of frogs, lizard, and mice and other snakes. The Anaconda can eat
small crocodiles and even bears. Many snakes protect themselves with their fangs. Some snakes

Difficulties arose when for the first time the barns were almost empty and the new harvest
was still a long way off. This made Kbo Iwo wild with great anger. In his hunger, he destroyed all
the houses and even all the temples. It made the Balinese turn to rage. So, they came together to
plan steps to oppose thus powerful giant by using his stupidity.
They asked Kbo Iwo to build them a very deep well, and rebuild all the houses and temples
he had destroyed. After they fed Kbo Iwo, he began to dig a deep hole. One day he had eaten too
much, he fell asleep in the hole. The oldest man in the village began to throw the limestone they
had collected before into the hole boiling. Kbo Iwo was buried alive. Then the water in the well rose
higher and higher until at last it overflowed and formed Lake Batur. The mound of earth dug from
the well by Kbo Iwo is known as Mount Batur.

One of my friends suggested that we went outside to see stars. At first we just wanted to go around and appreciate the beautiful sky decorated by many stars. But then, we decided to go further in. All we thought about was walking and talking. It was unfortunate that we went into the forest and got lost. When we found we were lost, it was too late to find the way back to the cabana. Moreover, the fog became thick quickly. Terrible fear came to my mind and made me tremble out of my control. It was impossible for me to get out of the forest. It was hard to find the way clear because of the dense fog. We did not know which step to follow next. Suddenly, we saw light coming closer and closer. There was a torch which was brought by a man who in a few minutes stood in front of us. We dared not to open our eyes until he came to touch on our shoulders. He told us that if we got lost, he would help us to find the way. At this moment, I was relieved because I knew I would not stay in the forest all the time. This kind man led us to go out. It was him who ended up this terrible experience of getting lost. It was really an unforgettable experience in my life. I will not forget it at all. Sumatran elephants are the smallest Asian elephants, meanwhile differing from the other 2 sub-species morphologically, anatomically and genetically by brighter skin with less de- pigmented spots. MaleSumatran elephants generally exhibit visible tusks, which do not tend to grow long. Tusks of female elephants are extremely short, usually being hidden under the upper lip. During the past 25 years, these endangered animals have lost about half of their overall population and are currently extinct from 69% of their original range as a result of deforestation. The Sumatran elephants are highly sociable animals, forming herds of 20 - 35 or 3 - 23 (according to another source) individuals, which are dominated by the largest adult female. When reaching the age of adolescence, males are either forced to leave the herd or do it by their own will, typically joining the herd only for mating. Meanwhile, females continue living with the herd, where they serve as 'nannies'. Old adult males are completely solitary due to being unable to travel with the herds. These elephants may be active at any time of the day, although the period of increased activity seems to occur from 2 hours before late afternoon till 2 hours before dawn, during which they look for food. Sumatran elephants are herbivores. The usual diet of these elephants consists of liana, bark, banana, young leaves as well as various types of wild herbs. • 30. A mangrove is a tropical marine tree. Mangroves have special aerial roots and salt-filtering tap roots which enable them to thrive in brackish water. Brackish water is salty but not as salty as sea water. Mangrove trees are commonly planted and found in coastal areas. Mangroves can serve as walls of protection for natural disaster in coastal area like tsunami. According to BBC News, healthy mangrove forests had helped save lives in the Asia disaster tsunami and people tended to respect these natural barriers even more, especially after the tsunami. There are several species of mangrove tree found all over the world. Some prefer more salinity, while others like to be very-close to a large fresh water source such as river. Some prefer areas that are sheltered from waves. Some species have their roots covered with sea water every day during high tide. Other species grow on dry land but are still part of the ecosystem. The Times of India reported that rare species of mangrove had been found and was also known as the looking- glass tree, probably because the leaves are silver-coated. Mangroves need to keep their trunk and leave above the surface of the water. Yet they also need to be firmly attached to the ground so they are not moved by waves. Any part of root that appears above the water flows oxygen to the plant under water surface. as the soil begin to build up, these roots procedure additional roots that become embedded in the soil.
