1. Introduction
Introduction
An electric vehicle (EV) is a mode of transport
which is powered by electricity.
Unlike conventional vehicles that use a
gasoline (petrol) or diesel-powered engine,
electric cars and trucks use an electric motor
powered by electricity from batteries or a fuel
cell.
A key advantage of EVs over other forms of
transport is that they hold the potential to
significantly reduce pollution by having zero
exhaust emissions.
5. 2.Riskconcerns
The solution to tackle pollution and
deal with the depleting natural
resources globally merits the use of
EV to manage future mobility. This is
the case not only in India but
globally.
Risk concerns – two vs four wheelers. 5
6. 6
Risk concerns – two vs four wheelers.
Dendrite formation
Dendrites grow from the surface of the negative electrode, which may pierce the separator and
contact the cathode material of the battery, resulting in the electronic contact between the
positive and negative electrodes
7. 7
Risk concerns – two vs four wheelers.
The major chunk of electricity to charge electric cars is
generated through burning fossil fuels which causes
pollution.
Petrol/diesel car manufacturing produces 7 to 10 tonnes of
carbon dioxide gas whereas, Electric car manufacturing
produces 16-19 tonnes of CO2.

Market leaders in Battery Management System (BMS) 8
A battery management system
can be defined as the brain
behind battery packs.
Battery pack is the most
important part of the electronic
vehicle (EV) and it is more
expensive than the motor itself.

10. 4.Chargingstations–suppliers.
A charging station, also called as electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) or simply charger is a
piece of equipment that supplies electrical power for charging plug-in electric vehicles
(including hybrids, neighbourhood electric vehicles, trucks, buses, and others).

Public charging stations:
As of December 2012, around 50,000 non-residential charging points were deployed in the U.S., Europe, Japan and
China. As of August 2014, some 3,869 CHAdeMO quick chargers were deployed, with 1,978 in Japan, 1,181 in Europe and
686 in the United States, and 24 in other countries.

All Over The World:
About 7.3 million chargers are active across the world (as of 2019), of which, nearly 6.5 million are private chargers, 0.6 million
are public slow chargers, and 0.26 million are public fast chargers. China accounts for about 37%, 50%, and 81% of global
private, public slow, and public fast chargers, respectively.

Suppliers:
In 2021 Daimler Trucks North America opened the "Electric Island". The station is capable of charging eight vehicles
simultaneously. In addition, the design is capable of accommodating >1 MW chargers once they are available.
WattEV, announced plans in May 2021 to build a 40-stall truck stop/charging station in Bakersfield, California.

SWITCHED RELUCTANCE MOTORS
Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) is also known as Variable Reluctance Motor. This motor works on the principle of variable
reluctance. This means, the rotor always tries to align along the lowest reluctance path. As the name suggests, a switching
inverter is required for the operation of Switched Reluctance Motor.
