During Vedic times, medical treatment was associated with religious
services in India.
Hindu medicines (Ayurvedic medicines), begin with the Atharva
Veda; contains a list of diseases with their symptoms in the form of
incantation.
In Rig- Veda many medicinal herbs are described and water is
prescribed as the best cure of most diseases.
Two great names in Ayurveda : Charaka & Sushruta
“Charak Samhita” : A book of information on Ayurvedic Medicines.
Muslim brought Unani System of medicine.
When British ruled India , they introduced Allopathic System of
medicine.
8. ASPECTS OF HEALTH CARE:
These are outlined in the report of the International
Conference on primary health care held in sept. 1978 at
Alma Ata to achieve the goal ‘health for all by 2000 AD’.
