4. Album artwork Because I find it easier to work on my album artwork at home rather than school I've made it on a program called picnik. Originally I'd hoped my album artwork could incorporate some of the artist's musicality but, as we couldn't bring a guitar out with us to shoot, I instead decided to focus on her rustic nature by boosting the colours in the background of the image to recreate what the artist is feeling in colour form. As you can see instead of using separate images for the backgrounds on the CD I've simply taken a landscape image and used it as a wrap around the entire CD. This keeps the look naturalistic which matches the forest centered theme. As Ellie is a new artist I've kept her name small on the album because it's not what she's known for yet. instead the focus is her as a character which includes her look and the way she presents herself. Whilst the artist name isn't the focus of the cover it is still a self titled album to show that the album is her in song form, the content of the album represents her as an artist and as a person. For the font on the back I've decided to go for a handwritten look, again to convey the idea that the songs and handwritten from the heart.
6. Advertisement For Ellie's tour date poster, again I've used the program picnik. first of all I toggled the saturation to make it a bit more vibrant, as is her character. Although on her album artwork I went for soft delicate fonts, here I've gone for a more edgy look so that the artist title stands out more and almost gives her live shows another persona, by bringing them to life a bit more it should convey the notion that the shows are also a bit edgy. I've then simply taken the album cover I already created and added it to the poster to advertise her on two levels in one medium. One thing I’m not keen on with my advertisement is that the writing covers her face, I tried to work around this but there was no way to avoid it without making the text too small. By using our time filming as a chance to take photos for the artwork both pieces of artwork heavily relate to the video. Whilst this usually wouldn’t work for a common artist, as a debut artist it increases the chances of the album cover and album being recognized.
