The Indian rupee on Wednesday strengthened marginally against the US dollar, tracking gains in the local equity markets. At 2 pm, the home currency was trading at 64.85 a dollar, up 0.06% from its Tuesday’s close of 64.89. The rupee opened at 64.77 a dollar.

Dabur said it has cut prices of existing stocks across categories such
as shampoos, skin and home care by 9 percent following reduction
in GST rates. Yesterday, Central Board of Excise and Customs
Chairperson Vanaja Sarna wrote to FMCG companies asking them
to immediately revise MRP on all products in line with the latest
reduction in GST rates.
Telecom stocks were in focus as The Telecom Regulator has
proposed relaxing spectrum holding limits, a move that would
encourage mergers and acquisitions as well as spectrum trading in a
market where small carriers are trying to sell assets, including
airwaves, to repay debt.
Reliance Capital shares moved higher on the back of positive news
flow that company has raised Rs 2,500 Cr from banks and financial
institutions for refinancing its debt. The money has been raised
through term loan and non-convertible debentures (NCDs) with
maturity period ranging from 5-7 years.
Adani Enterprises said it seeks government loan for Carmichael
coal mine in Australia. Meanwhile, foreign media reported that the
company is close to securing a deal with Chinese enterprises and
export credit agencies to fund both the mine and the rail link.
