The Maryland Heights Public Arts Task Force aims to enhance the city's identity and character through public art. The Task Force has established five goals: 1) implement a public arts program to acquire and display artwork, 2) beautify empty spaces, 3) secure funding, 4) collaborate with partners, and 5) promote awareness of public art. Future steps include developing sponsorship partnerships, identifying resident artists, and creating a non-profit organization to apply for grants and gifts to support public art in Maryland Heights. The Task Force is ready to implement their plans pending financial support from the city council.

Motivation 101
The Components of the Task Force’s DNA
In conjunction with main emphasis of the Maryland
Heights Identity Statement being a city that is “on the
move from its historic roots” the Task Force is focused
on bringing a new facet of the jewel we call Maryland
Heights to the citizens
The Task Force sees that art is a vital component to the
city taking a step forward in how visitors recognize us
It is quite easy for cities along Hwy 270 to be lumped
together as centers of people but it is the consensus of
the Task Force, supported by national surveys, that art
makes a difference
Art creates an intrinsic impact

Future Steps
Future Steps:
Once funding and art has been secured, we will:
–Develop business and corporate partnerships for art
sponsorship
–Identify area residents who have a desire to
contribute to public art and to promote it as well
–Create a possible 501(c)3 named “Friends of
Maryland Heights Arts Organization.” This could
open up new grant/corporate gift avenues
