2. Dominant
The main character, (Vito Corleone, played by Robert De
Niro) is dominant because he in the center of the shot and
the top-down lighting makes him stand out.
4. Shoot and Camera Proxemics
Close shot because distance between the main character
and the camera is very small, camera is zoomed in on the
main character.
5. Camera Angle
The camera is pointed at Vito’s stomach, giving us, the
audience, the impression that he is larger than we are, and
therefore more powerful than us and demanding our respect.
6. Color values
Dark tones are dominating in the shot. Character stands out
by having light pointed at him.
7. Lens/Filter/Stock
The lens used appears to be a fairly narrow, considering how
this particular shot is reminiscent of a portrait, like for a
magazine cover.
8. Subsidiary contrasts
After audience looks at Vito Corleone (main character), 2nd
thing audience will see is the table and the cup located to the
left of Vito Corleone
9. Density
This shot isn’t dense because there is not much of
background visible. The texture of the scene is dark also.
10. Composition
Vito is in the center of this shot. Symbolizing that he is the
center of operations for his crime family and therefore the
leader or don.
11. Form
This scene is a closed form shot. The reason why this is a
closed form is most of the scene is dominated by Vito
Corleone.
12. Framing
This is a fairly tight shot because of the semi-lack of Border
room around Vito. Without much room for the background,
the cinematographer is forcing us to pay attention to Vito.
