and Facts
Our team began to work together on 23 January 1995.
Its initial focus was on creation and distribution of brands
(Raptor, Moscitol, Gardex insecticides; Salton, Twist, Patisson
shoe-cleaning products; Forester picnic and barbecue equip-
ment; Norveg thermal underwear).
Since 2002, the company has shifted its focus to the develop-
ment of the umbrella brand “Expedition”
These days we carry out projects in the following areas:
• A retail network (Expedition shops)
• The restaurant business (network of “Expedition”
restaurants and banya (bath) complexes)
• Manufacturing and distribution of equipment
• Advertising and publishing (the Expedition magazine)

5. True Story of
Expedition Brand
One day, during a routine trip beyond the polar circle the helicopter crew mistakenly
dropped the team of the future Expedition in the wrong spot and earlier than was neces-
sary. They were about three hundred kilometres away from the nearest inhabited spot.
As a result they had to travel for four days with no food or water. This became an enor-
mous test. They were ravenous, they began to think of what the locals normally ate and
remembered that, funnily enough, Moscow was the city with no restaurant showcasing
northern cuisine. They decided that if all ended well they would have to bring this cuisine
to Moscow. That was why on 14 June 2002 the first restaurant of northern cuisine ap-
peared in Moscow and the first product beneath Expedition’s umbrella brand.

6. New Russian City
of the XXI Century
In November 2010 the first brick was laid for the construction of Russia’s
newest city – Ruyan City. The first building will be a lighthouse – the symbol
of the Ruyan Company. The first brick in this building will be a brick taken
from the Saint Island of Ruyan where the Expedition team set sail from
Ruyan, Germany to Kaliningrad, Russia.
What is Ruyan-City? Ruyan City is a place where bright ideas come together;

8. Expedition
Trophy
www.expedition-trophy.ru Expedition-Trophy is the longest win-
ter car race in the world. Today, this
legendary race is known to many. 23
February - 8 March. Route: Murmansk-
Vladivostok. The race is broken down
into several legs and incorporates
elements of cross-country, orienteer-
ing and unexpected logic problems in-
volving locating and getting to interim
points. The race attracts teams from
all over the world. The route goes from
one end of Russian territory to the
other: 16,000 kilometres across snowy
roads stretching from the Murmansk
lighthouse to the one in Vladivostok.
This is a real adventure and the harsh-
est test not only for the cars but also
for those involved, for whom the real
value may be only the team spirit of
the participants, their solidarity, tenac-
ity, readiness to help and friendship.

9. Expedition
Around
the World
On 8 March 2007, a project was
launched that in terms of its sig-
nificance and scale is unique even for
Expedition: EXPEDITION AROUND THE
WORLD, the round-the-world expedi-
tion lasting a whole year.
The round-the-world trip was sched-
uled in legs across different continents.
The first leg, from 15 May to 29 May
2007, across North America (Alaska-
Canada-USA-Mexico); the second leg
in September – October 2007 across
South America (Peru, Bolivia, Argenti-
na, Uruguay and Brazil);the third leg in
January 2008 across Europe (Portugal
– Spain – France – Germany – Denmark
– Sweden – Finland– Russia (Mur-
mansk); the fourth leg across Russia as
part of the Expedition-Trophy car race.
The aims of the project were many.
One of them was to find all the most
positive things in the world created by
Russians; to measure the influence of
Russian culture on the culture of other
countries and peoples; to make sci-
entific and geographic discoveries; to
identify Russian architectural monu-
ments and of course to find those who
preserve Russian traditions.

10. The Northern
Sea Route
From 23 July to 8 August 2009 two orange sail catamarans
covered the journey from Murmansk to Arkhangelsk through
the Barents and the White seas.
The aim of this project was to research the possibility of cover-
ing the first leg of a larger route - the entire Northern Sea
Route stretching from Kola to Chukotka - was achieved. An
expedition will set off on this huge voyage in summer 2011 and
will cover the whole distance within a single navigation.
What makes this trip special is that no-one has yet covered
such a difficult route on sail catamarans. The project also has
a humanitarian aspect: the study of archaeological, historical
and other cultural landmarks along the northern shore of the
northern seas.
August 2010.
Several boats will cross the toughest stretch of the route: close
to Cape Chelyuskin.
July – August 2011:
Over two weeks 24 inflatable catamarans will simultaneously
cover the entire Northern Sea Route.
