1. REFLECTIVE ESSAY ABOUT THE IMPACT OF YOUR EDUCATIONAL STATUS TOWARDS
INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP

Educators have a huge impact on their students and their communities. They take on
various roles and engage in different activities such as innovating learning materials, research
collaborations, mentoring and advising students, among others. Hence, it is important that
teachers keep on improving themselves in terms of knowledge and skills.
One’s educational status has a significant effect o their instructional leadership. Through
education, an individual may become a specialist in their field. Studying also equips teachers with
the latest education trends, ideas, and strategies. These are just someof the reasons why I chose
to take my master’s degree. In this time of new normal education, I would like to stay updated,
and I want to learn more so I can be a better instructional leader.
To become an effective instructional leader, one must be involved in the instructional
issues and curricular matters affecting the achievement of students. Post-graduate studies offer
that. It grants us invaluable experience that we can apply with our own students. It also helps that
my classmates are also teachers, professors, educators, and school admins. I was able to gain
practical skills, new tips, techniques, and knowledge from them. While all of us already have our
bachelor’s degree, post-graduate studies provide us the opportunity to apply theories into
teaching practices and processes.
We are also aware that education will open other doors for us. Having a master’s degree
will allow teachers to move into higher roles in the education department. These programs and
courses cultivate leadership and administration skills. Everything that we have acquired from our
education will help us become better or even become an instructional specialist.
On a personal note, all these experience and learning will help me improve my teaching
strategies. It also made me think and explore new instructional ideas that can I incorporate in my
class. I was able to discover that there are plenty of teaching tools, platforms, resources, and
apps that I should try. My educational status definitely allows me to grow as an instructional leader
and as a teacher.
