fight the oppressor.
He said a Satyagrahi could win the battle without
violence.
Gandhiji believed that the oppressor is needed to be
persuaded to see the truth instead of being forced
to accept the truth.

on police stations, banks and offices. On the same day,
Martial law was imposed under the command of General

18. On this day General Dyer fired upon a
large number of people who had gathered
at Jallianawala Bagh to celebrate the
Baisakhi fair and some were there to
protest against the martial law. On this day
hundreds of people were killed and
thousands had got injured. This incident
caused widespread anger among the
minds of all satyagrahis.
