One of the key challenges in any sized organization is sharing technical or operational content between the Main Documentation Team and the Training Department. You walk onto any documentation floor and up one end is Tech Doc and up the other end you will find the Trainers. They often work with minimal interaction with each other and yet if you were to review both document types you would find 60 to 80% of the content is identical and that identical content is normally the Working Tasks, Steps or Instructional content on how to do something correctly. Strategic assets require (along with other important elements) technical manuals, operational manuals and training material. Depending on project budgets and contracts, the format and delivery of courseware and manuals will vary. However, it is at this start/planning point that silo's will be built or avoided through the use of latest Industry Specifications, Guidelines and best practice tools. Moving course content to a SCORM (Shareable Content Object Reference Model). This means: * Creating courseware with an LCMS (Learning Content Management System), which will give us consistent materials. * Re-using technical content from Data Modules in the CSDB, allows for the repurposing of technical content. * Can upload SCORM compliant courseware to LMS (Learning Management Solution). * For material to be managed and shared across multiple courses. * SCORM content can also be used in the field in IETM Viewers. Good for staff to refresh themselves on certain topics out in the field and self-audit. * Output content to print as Training Manuals with XSL-FO. * If Powerpoints are still being utilised in the classroom . * It is felt they add value to steps in on-line content they can also be re-used in the LMS as SCORM training "objects". Every business strives to get the most out of their technical data and must find opportunities to fulfill that requirement through reuse. S1000D was conceived as a model for improving reuse through topic-oriented modularization of content and enables companies to achieve this lofty goal. Instead of creating new content or copying and pasting information which may or may not be current and authoritative, organizations must manage a repository of content assets – or S1000D Data Modules – that can be centrally managed, maintained and reused across the enterprise.

Presented by Berry Braster at Documentation and Training Life Sciences, June 23-26, 2008 in Indianapolis. Products and processes are becoming more complex, while companies worldwide increasingly have to deal with different languages. Although technical documentation is predominantly written in English, it can often be difficult to understand due to its complexity: complex sentence structures, multiple meanings and synonyms easily result in confusion. In addition, many readers’ command of English can fall below the level of those who created the documentation, which especially applies to non-native English speakers. For documents that have to be translated into other languages, one cannot expect the translation to be of great quality if the source file was ambiguous to begin with. As a result, these are often the consequences: * Confused and frustrated readers * Safety risk * Damage during operation or maintenance * Liability claims * High localization costs * Unsatisfactory translations * Higher training support costs * Ineffective customer service * Unanticipated costs as a result of miscommunication In this context, clear and effective writing has become more important than ever before. Simplified Technical English (also known as Controlled English) is a method of writing that makes technical English easy to understand. The use of Simplified Technical English stimulates (global) acceptance of technical documentation as it improves readability and prevents misunderstandings and misinterpretations.

Based on evaluations of the accessibility compliance level of the website’s UI, design, source code, navigation, interactive elements, and overall usability, we will provide a digital accessibility evaluation report with in-depth details of potential accessibility barriers and remediation recommendations. Get a manual website WCAG audit (2.0, 2.1, 2.2 level AA) for a small website: 10 pages: $2,500 within 7 business days 30 pages: $7,500 within 14 business days 50 pages: $12,500 within 28 business days For medium websites: 100 pages: $25,000 within 6 weeks For larger websites or audits of all pages, please reach out hello@skynettechnologies.com.

Join me in this session where I'll share our journey of building a fully serverless application that flawlessly managed check-ins for an event with a staggering 80 thousand registrations. We'll dive into three key strategies that made this possible. Firstly, by harnessing DynamoDB global tables, we ensured global service availability and data replication across regions, boosting performance and disaster recovery. Next, we'll explore how we seamlessly integrated real-time updates into the app using Appsync subscriptions, making the experience dynamic and engaging for users. Finally, I'll discuss how provisioned concurrency not only improved performance but also kept costs in check, highlighting the cost-effectiveness of serverless architectures. Through these strategies and the inherent scalability of serverless technology, our application effortlessly handled massive user loads without manual intervention. This session is a real world example to the power and efficiency of modern cloud-based solutions in enabling seamless scalability and robust performance with Serverless

We start by setting up a common ground introducing why relational databases fall short, addressing common EDA characteristics such as the need for real-time response times and schemaless approaches to address recurring changes to adapt and on-board new use cases. Next, interact with a sample Rust-based application: a social network app demonstrating an integration of both ScyllaDB and Redpanda.
