EXPERIENCE:
Antone Mello Consulting
Sole Proprietor, January 2008- Present
Performed OSHA required training, SOP Development, ISO9001 Policies and Procedures for
Certification. Developed novel coatings and chemistries and registrations of a myriad of chemistries,
including factor integration, process development and manufacturing efficiencies.
♦ Worked for several companies as Regulatory Compliance, including OSHA required safety
procedures and training.
♦ Obtained ISO9001 readiness for companies.
♦ Saved millions of dollars in manufacturing efficiencies and process improvements for several
companies.
♦ Grant writing:
Wrote and approved NYSERDA grant for fuel consumption improvements for
commercial marine vessels.
Sub-contractor for fuel additive development for ethanol/gasoline lubricity and
efficiency improvements.
Wrote and awaiting approval for novel lithium ion battery component design for both
NYSERDA and the Department of Energy.
♦ Freelance chemistry and product development:
Developed novel oil additive for friction reduction. The product is currently in
production with 7 million pound per year contract.
Developed anti-corrosion oil additive for motor oil; the product is currently in testing for
customer approval.
Developing several coatings for the marine, architectural and industrial sectors.
Currently own and sell fifteen resin, coating and adhesive formulations and products.
SI Group Inc., Schenectady, New York
Associate Chemist, January 2001 through December 2007
Developed novel polymers for magnet wire, coatings, rubber additives, adhesives and electronic
chemicals markets. First hand knowledge of urethane, polyester, phenolic, alkyd, urea, acrylic,
microencapsulation, polyimide and polyamide. Factory support of 500 MT/month alkyd
manufacturing plant, including new product introduction and scale-up. Day to day quality and
manufacturing problem solving. Customer support and product line development through customer
input. Commanded strong customer relation and problem solving for customer specific product
development and polymer properties.
2. ♦ Integrated 500 MT/ month alkyd manufacturing acquisition. Included formula writing,
regulatory status of products and filings needed and Statistical Process Control Data. Quality
control documentation and Standard Operating Procedures.

♦ Managed over 100 coating products, including product development, application
engineering, manufacturing process limits and quality assurance.
♦ Developed and introduced more than 70 new products into production, including all
regulatory compliance, with over 20 Premanufacturing Notifications to the EPA and 32 New
Substance Notifications with Environment Canada.
♦ Designed novel waterborne alkyd technology and assisted customer’s finished coating
formulation. Developed to meet regulatory VOC limit, the advantage of this technology was
the ability of Zero VOC in the alkyd with novel surfactant technology.
♦ Developed novel microencapsulation technology, including a pH releasable capsule.
♦ Investigated novel silica coupling technology for the rubber additives market using surface
modified silica.
♦ Facilitated the Voluntary Protection Programs and Job Safety Analysis Committee.
Responsible for analyzing and developing JSA for each position.
♦ Developed training and taught coworkers new products, processes and SOPs.
♦ Created PowerPoint Presentation and presented to customers on products and uses.
♦ Member of Emergency Response Team, including being a Certified Industrial Firefighter,
First Responder/ CPR/AED, Confined Space Rescue and Haz-Mat Technician.
♦ Acquired testing knowledge utilizing Particle Size Analyzer, GC, GPC, IR, HPLC, Salt
Spray Machine, Xenon Sunometer, QUV Machine and several classical chemistry tests.
SI Group Inc., Schenectady, New York
Laboratory Technician Pilot Plant, April 1993 through January 2001
Charged with the day to day operation of pilot reaction vessels and production scale-up data
acquisition. Equipment included steam heated and oil heated reaction vessels, pressure reaction
vessel capable of 300 psi, thin film evaporators, inline emulsification equipment and spray-drying
equipment. Detailed accounts of reaction parameters and process control limits were essential.
Equipment modification and set-up were necessary. Assisted in production formulation review,
including Process Hazard Analysis and process limits for quality reproducible production.
♦ Assisted in the scale-up data and production development of hundreds of different polymers
and monomers.
♦ Served as member of Environmental Steering Committee and Responsible Care Initiative.
♦ Developed numerous SOPs for new equipment and chemical handling.
EXPERIENCE: (continued)
