The concept of the Internet of Things and the Industrial Internet of Things and Industry 4.0 has
both intersections and differences. The Internet of Things emphasizes the connection of all
hardware devices in life and production; the industrial Internet of Things refers to the connection
of production equipment and products in an industrial environment, and+ the industry 4.0 covers
the entire manufacturing ecosystem.
With the deep integration of industrialization and informatization, the demand for
interconnection between production control systems and production management systems
within and between enterprises is increasing. The demand for improving product quality and
operational efficiency through access to the network is stronger. Industrial Internet of Things It
came into being.
Industrial IoT transforms every link and equipment in the production process into data terminals,
collects underlying basic data in all directions, and conducts deeper data analysis and mining to
improve efficiency and optimize operations.
Different from the application of the Internet of Things in the consumer industry, the foundation
of the Internet of Things in the industrial field has existed for decades. Systems such as process
control and automation systems, industrial Ethernet connectivity and wireless local area
networks (WALN) have been in operation for many years, with programmable logic controllers
(PLCs), wireless sensors and radio frequency identification (RFID) tags. But in a traditional
industrial automation environment, everything happens only in the factory's own system and
never connects to the outside world.

The Industrial Internet of Things has the following four characteristics compared to traditional
industrial automation:
Data collection scope: Industrial Internet of Things uses RFID, sensors, QR codes and other means
to obtain information data from production to sales to end-user use at any time. Traditional
industrial automation data collection is often limited to the production quality inspection stage.
Interconnection transmission: The industrial Internet of Things uses a combination of a dedicated
network and the Internet to accurately transmit object information in real-time, which is more
dependent on the network and emphasizes data interaction.
Intelligent processing: Industrial IoT comprehensively utilizes intelligent computing technologies
such as cloud computing, cloud storage, fuzzy recognition, and neural networks to analyze and
process massive amounts of data and information, and combines big data technologies to dig
deeper into data values.
Self-organization and self-maintenance: Each node of the Industrial Internet of Things provides
the entire system with information or decision data obtained by itself. When a node fails or the
data changes, the entire system automatically adjusts according to the logical relationship.
