1. List of Projects achieved:
1. AMK Web Car Rental System
The purpose of the project was developing and implementing a web-based application for AMK Car Rental
Company.
The company is involved in car rental for tourists as well as for local residents. A business service is also
provided to local/international companies. Currently all information on cars, customers, rentals and
payments are kept on paper and faxed or emailed to customers who are interested in the services of AMK.
With a new web-based application the following was achieved.
The company owner and the staff were able to:
1. modify the information held on the system such as adding or deleting a new car, managing rents
of cars,
2. accept or reject bookings,
3. handle payments,
4. Follow up on vehicle status and maintenance.
Moreover, daily, weekly and monthly reports of rents were provided to management to help in decision
making and apart from that to have a track in the business.
Customers of the company were able to:
1. Register online browse over a large database of cars owned by the company,
2. Make online enquiries
3. Make bookings
4. Modify their bookings
5. Get promotion( frequent users only)
6. Give/post feedback on the service of the company via the website.
I intended and succeeded in developing the system using PHP/MySQL as it would reduce costs and ensure
portability of the website. The main tool used was Dreamweaver CS4 as it provides a number of built-in
controls for database application to merge with it.
To be able to realise this project I had evaluated various options and consider feasibility aspects such as:
1. Initial and running costs of the system
2. The business case
3. The company offering better services to customers.
2. Hence, the new system alleviated all these problems such as:
1. A soft copy of the rent receipt will always be available on the system
2. The information will be well organized in the database
3. Information will always be up to date since the system is real time
4. Lots of time will be saved with the new system.
As well, since the system will hold personal data of customers and open to the wide public, I ensured that
the project complies with a number of legal requirements such as Computer Misuse and Data Protection
Acts.
2. Retail Viva ERP
In collaboration with Sathguru Management Consultants, my Team and I were able to implement a new
enterprise retailing system for Arcasa Boutiques (A member of the British American Insurance).
The aim was to provide easy to use, robust transaction management system and an enterprise wide
solution to run operations.
The main language used was Java and PHP and the Retail Viva Server was installed on a Windows Server
2008 R2.
3. HP Trim
HP Trim Software was implemented on a trial basis of 3 month at Courts Ltd, aiming to replace the main
retailing system which is Cosacs.Net by BBSL (UK).
The Prototype was implemented by 2 Consultants from HP and the Courts Team for a Period of 1 and a
half month. A main HP Trim server was put in place together with a duplicate on. The main server was
installed on windows server 2003 and the clients were installed on both MS Windows XPSP3 and MS
Windows 7SP1.
Unfortunately, the project was abandoned after the trial period.
4. Sharepoint 2010
Sharepoint 2010 was implemented by me on a prototype basis for mainly IT users, warehouse users and
accounts users for file sharing and access rights via the intranet. Some websites such as homepages for
each department, access rights for users and local as well as external access were created.
The Sharepoint server was implemented on MS server 2008 32bit version.
3. 5. Courts IT H/O Internal Stock System
The purpose of the software was to have a log of all peripherals entering and leaving the department as
well as having a log on all repairs being done. As there was no log, I’ve decided to create a software.
I’ve developed the software using VB6.0 together with MS Access 2007(ADODC).
The outcomes were:
Logs on all peripherals entering and leaving the IT Department
Logs on all repairs.
Create Daily and Monthly reports.
Ability to search and retrieve required information such as serial number.
6. Norton Symantec Server installation & Implementation
Both Versions of Symantec 11 and 12 were implemented at Courts by the Courts Team and me. We
were able to manage all the Pcs, Servers and laptops and moreover, we were able to create daily reports
of high risk infections in the network. As per the tools available on the Symantec server, we created
client packages for all users and branches with more reinforced policies such as the use of pendrives,
and access rights to all removable media storage.
7. DRP for DC and Exchange
I’ve created a Disaster Recovery Plan in February 2012 for both the Domain Controller Server and the
Exchange Server. It consists of both the technical part and the documentation part. A list of Critical and
non-critical users were created too.
The software used for the DRP was EaseUSTodo Back UP Advance Server 4.5.
8. WSUS Server SP2
A WSUS server is a program based on Microsoft Server Platform which consists of downloading and
deploying Microsoft updates and patches, certified updates and drivers over an intranet. The key role of
this project was to centralize all updates in a single server which can optimize better performance over
the network and better deployment of the updates.
9. OCS Inventory
The OCS inventory Software is an application based on a web server which can perform an overall
acquisition of all information of computers, printers and any peripherals which are online on an intranet
in order to compute all information onto an SQL database. Thus, this can be used to monitor and to
have a complete inventory of all IT assets within a company.
4. 10. GLPI integration with OCS Inventory
The GLPI Software is web base software which runs on a web server such as apache and provides an
Integration of OCS Inventory Software to well maintain an Inventory. The GLPI software is based on PHP
and MySQL and offers a wide variety of task s and options for a better monitoring of assets. It is also a
Helpdesk software on which tickets can be issued based on the OCS database.
11.Gate Protect Implementation
The gateprotect GPX 650 next generation UTM appliance is especially suited to the needs of medium-
sized companies or single departments of large company groups. The extensive combination of defense
mechanisms in the areas of anti-virus, Intrusion Prevention, web filter and Application Control offers
quick and reliable protection against threats from the Internet. This project was implemented as part of
the IT Security Project. An old ISA server was decommissioned and a standalone version of GFI Web
monitor was installed which was given the role of a new proxy. The GateProtect device was
implemented only as a firewall.
12.Repairing/Revamping IT Infrastructure
Repairing the Domain Controllers and the SYSVOL directory.
Repairing the SYSVOL sharing.
Creating New Domain Group Policy Objects and Domain Controller GPO.
Adding Delegation of control to each Organisational Unit and applying new Group Policy Objects
to specific Organisational Units.
13.3CX Upgrade V12.5.44 & 14
Backing up the existing PBX configuration buy using the Backup and Restore tool. The upgrade from V11
to V12.5.44 was done in a very flawless way. Moreover, it was then upgraded to Version 14.
14.Sharepoint Foundation 2013
SharePoint was implemented so as to have a consolidated company’s intranet and also to share news
and adverts within the group. Polls and Surveys were then created to have an insight and overview of the
connections between the employer and the employee.
