3.PART 1 - Project Charter 3.1. Purpose of the Charter
This project charter outlines the scope, goals and the general approach needed to design and build a new corporate network for Globex Corporation. This document is a vital component for starting, preparing, executing, supervising and evaluating the project. It is the only reference for this project’s goals and aims, scope, corporation, financial estimates and financial plans. Additionally, the project chatter acts a contract between Globex Corporation and Virtucon Pty Ltd, declaring all the deliverables in terms of budget, time scope, threats, assets and standards agreed upon for the project. Finally, this document keeps track of all the necessary data needed by the decision maker(s) to allow the funding of the project as well as authorize the project team to begin the project.
3.2. Purpose of the Project
The current network structure of Globex Corporation is earnestly in need of a secure VPN in a full mesh topology and a direct HTTPS connection over the intranet. The need for a reliable and secure network structure is fueled by the rising number of people depending on this company’s agricultural services. The aim of this project is to address Globex’s need for a reliable network structure by designing and building a new corporate network that is not only efficient and user-friendly but also secure.

The outcomes of this project will be considered successful, if
the project attains the goals tabulated below for the client:

A corporate network designed primarily to fulfil the users’
needs while meeting the organizational structure of Globex.
The user is able to securely access personal accounts and avail
services from the company with ease.
The company’s three local servers must support failover and
NFS share for cloud based backups.

A user-friendly and efficient desktop software program.
Users are able to access and use the secure desktop program for
data file transfer effortlessly while the program is able to send
and retrieve data from the cloud storage securely.

6. The upgraded network structure will be faster, more dependable,
and support all the solutions that Globex Corporation provide.
The corporation has the ability to provide solutions and support
to their workers and clients through their Farm Equipment and
Precision Farming products without any network failure or
errors.

A corporate network will enable farmers and employees to use
their computers or personal devices, with ability to read and
create files in the Globex Precision Farming format, to access or
exchange data.
The farmers can access data from cloud, conduct video
conferencing with farm experts, locate nearest fleets and receive
important updates and alerts. The company has access to
machine functionality, position and data collected by their
sensors.
3.4. Scope of the Project

Both the company’s employees and clients will be able to view
fleet position, status of the vehicle and communicate with the
vehicle’s driver.
A system that protects data integrity by providing access to
cloud stored data while avoiding use of USB drives for data
transfer.
Configuring all networks to successfully interconnect through a
7. Virtual Private Network (VPN) in a full mesh topology
corporate network instead of separate standalone domains and
establish a direct connection to the cloud servers by means of
HTTPS for the Intranet.

Training
Since the Globex Farm Equipment Sales team, Parts and Service
representatives have undergone a training on the latest
technologies and are specialists at helping famers plan for the
future, they would still undergo a short training session, attend
seminars and receive manuals that will guide them as they adapt
to the new system. The company’s employees will then train
and help customers adapt to the new system.
Device configuration
Server machines running windows Server 2012 R2 server OS
will be configured to store and retrieve data to/from Linux
Server located within Amazon Web Services.
The configuration files of all network devices and configuration
parameters of the different applications provided on CD, and
technical documentation for the person who will maintain the
system.

Once the students demonstrate the final network system, system
support, resolution, enhancement and maintenance will be
halted therefore the clients of this project will have to look for a
8. means of providing technical support and maintaining the
network system.
3.5. Budget and Timeframe
There is no budget for this project.
The time allocated for the project design is fourteen weeks from
09/08/2018 to 15/11/2016. The table in section 3.6 below shows
the scheduled time for milestones and deliverables although the
allocated time for each task may be changed with client’s
permission, for example, when a task is completed ahead of
time.
