Food adulteration through use of chemicals to preserve fruits or color foods attractively is common.

The National Food Safety Laboratory (NFSL) at the Institute of Public Health (IPH) got
presence of high level of harmful chemicals in many samples of nine food
commodities in a study conducted in Nov’15 to June’16. These food items are:
Cauliflower, brinjal, green chili, amaranth, tomato, bean, grape, date and chili powder.
