What is Digital India?
 Digital India is a Flagship Programme with a vision to prepare India to transform
digitally.
 The focus is on being transformative – to realize IT + IT = IT.
 The motive is to transform the entire ecosystem of public services through the use of
Information technology .
 The focus is on making technology central to enabling change.
 It is an Umbrella programme – covering many department.
 It weaves together a large number of ideas and thoughts into a single,
comprehensive vision so that each of them is seen as part of a larger goal.
 Each individual element stands on its own. But is also part of the larger picture.
 It is coordinated by deity, implemented by the entire government – both at the centre
and state.
 These schemes will be restructured and re-focused & will be implemented in a
synchronized manner.
 Many elements are only process improvements with minimal cost.
 The Common branding of programmes as digital India highlights their transformative
impact.

connectivity within the next one year.
Internet major Google and state-run RailTel Corp. of India have joined hands
to equip 400 railways station in the country with high speed Wi-Fi networks,
making it one of the largest public Wi-Fi projects in the world.
RailTel and Google are currently working on the monetisation model.

What is Digital India?  Digital India is a Flagship Programme with a vision to prepare India to transform digitally.  The focus is on being transformative – to realize IT + IT = IT.  The motive is to transform the entire ecosystem of public services through the use of Information technology .  The focus is on making technology central to enabling change.  It is an Umbrella programme – covering many department.  It weaves together a large number of ideas and thoughts into a single, comprehensive vision so that each of them is seen as part of a larger goal.  Each individual element stands on its own. But is also part of the larger picture.  It is coordinated by deity, implemented by the entire government – both at the centre and state.  These schemes will be restructured and re-focused & will be implemented in a synchronized manner.  Many elements are only process improvements with minimal cost.  The Common branding of programmes as digital India highlights their transformative impact.

Universal Accessto Mobile connectivity 7 Spectrum Bid fetched 1,1 Progress So Far 65,000 new towers installed for call drop issues. Planning of next Spectrum Bid in Jul/Aug. Till date 40 Crores internet users in India in which 60% are mobile internet users. BSNL Operating profit increases to 670 crores. As many as 2,500 villages in the State will receive broadband Internet connectivity within the next one year. Internet major Google and state-run RailTel Corp. of India have joined hands to equip 400 railways station in the country with high speed Wi-Fi networks, making it one of the largest public Wi-Fi projects in the world. RailTel and Google are currently working on the monetisation model.
