Andy demonstrates a “love of the craft”

Andy has also acquired over a decade
of building trade experience, both from
a customer prospective and as Sales
Associate - extensively remodeling his
17th century cottage in the UK, working
in the plumbing industry; then on the
“other side of the fence” as Assistant
Branch Manager for the largest builders’
merchants in the UK, then as Lumber
and Building Associate for Home Depot.
Graphic Designer
In a team of 5, Andy was accountable for the production
of advertising for over 250 stores, including Food, Travel,
Pharmacy, Furniture and Electrical, with a weekly food group
transaction rate of >£265,000. Reporting directly to the
Advertising and Print Manager, with regular contact with
Group Divisional Mangers Andy conceptualized; layout, size,
pagination, image, copy, font selection and colour rationale,
for planned & ad-hoc; press, flyers, radio, POS, direct
mail, magazine, store decal and vehicle livery, events and
conferences. Andy also designed and produced corporate
business stationery, annual reports and coordinated
with other art services, printers, and photographers. As
necessary, gathered product information from internal
teams and obtained approval of final artwork. Andy posses
excellent Adobe Creative Suite skills - (InDesign, Illustrator
and Photoshop).
Studio Manager
Andy had 4 direct reports - producing the creative brief
alongside Group Divisional Managers, aiding company
growth by 15% year on year and contributed to produce
innovative and informative advertising communication
for the whole group, supporting the transition of new
stores through development, merger and acquisition,
ensuring brand identity was maintained. He was also
charged with inventory tracking, sourcing, purchasing.
He ensured maintenance of studio equipment, arranged
repairs, maintained and evaluated equipment inventories
and attended trade show and events linked to the industry
namely Campaign, Marketing Week and The Grocer.
Production Coordinator
Reporting to the Advertising and Print Controller, Andy was
responsible for all advertising, print and corporate stationery
for the entire company, and 14 staff members. He provided
the orderly work-flow of all projects, ensuring they were
completed on time and to budget. He directed the design of
an administrative database system to track time, cost and
progress for all job tasks undertaken.
2. Advertising Coordinator
In the newly created Marketing and Advertising
Department, Andy reported to the General Manager,
Advertising - liaising daily with Ad Agencies and print
suppliers. He maintained the highest level of customer
service, on behalf of the Company. Andy was charged
with the implementation of all advertising plans for the
Food Groups’ 400 stores, including product placement,
strategy, insights and branding. He established clear
channels for information and communication to key
stakeholders at the Stores, Buying Team and PR.
Advertising Manager
Reporting to the General Manager, Advertising and
General Manager, Food Group, Andy was accountable
for all Advertising communication for the Company’s
485 Convenience Stores. He controlled a $500,000
advertising budget and was responsible for strategy,
schedule and brand development. Andy was the key
liaison between Ad Agency and the Business - meeting
with the Creative Agency during all strategy sessions,
controlling media placement, campaign duration,
product content and customer profiles. Andy
communicated with the Business effectively and
efficiently; answering their questions, provided
updates as appropriate. He also provided Senior
Management feedback to the ad agencies -
heading all creative revisions. Award winning advertising
lead initiatives contributed to the successful transition
of newly developed stores -and as a result the Lowton
Convenience Store was voted the best in the UK, by
Convenience Store magazine. As Advertising Manager,
Andy also collaborated with the IT department,
maintaining content and brand of the corporate website.
Building Trade
Andy has over 12 years building trade experience first as a
retail customer, acquiring a vast understanding products
and building techniques - when he remodeled his family
home, a 17th century country cottage; personally adding
extra accommodation, along with 2 new bathrooms, a 2
car garage and extensive landscaping. His second of the
retail/trade environment was a self-employed plumber
and as Lumber and Building Materials Associate, providing
friendly and knowledgeable service and information on
featured products.
As Assistant Branch Manager at Travis Perkins UK,
he reported sales targets, coordinated branch operations
and was charged with stock management. His sales
experience, strong product knowledge and customer
service skills, created a loyal customer base and
achievement of month-by-month sales targets.
As plumber he worked in a residential and public
setting, alongside a Journeyman Plumber. He helped
determine plumbing and water supply networks, read
and understood drawings and product specifications;
maintaining, repairing and installing plumbing
and heating systems.
