OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Battery voltage check if a battery low symbol shows, do not proceed with testing.
2. Test Leads connection (Precise Measurement).
Stick the attached Auxiliary earth Spikes in line and connect the test leads as shown below.
3. Earth Voltage Measurement Set the range switch to Earth Voltage position and make sure
that the indicated value is 10V or less. If the earth voltage is higher, it may result in
excessive errors in earth resistance measurement.
4. Checking of Auxiliary Earth Spikes Connection (Check Function of Auxiliary Earth
Resistance). Set the range switch to 2000 Ω position and press the “PRESS TO TEST”
Button if the auxiliary earth resistance is too higher the symbol “ . . . “Blinks. Reduce
the resistance by rechecking the connection, changing the site to stick earth spikes, of
pouring water over the spikes.
5. Measurements (Precise Measurement) Set the range switch to the desire position and
press the “PRESS TO TEST” button.
6. Measurement (Simplified Measurement)
When auxiliary earth spikes cannot be stick, an approximate earth resistance can be
obtained by two wire system designed to make measurement using an existing earth
electrode. Make sure to use the specified simplified measurement probe.

leads as shown below.
3. Insulation Measurement Set the range switch to 5000V position and make sure that the
indicated value is 5000V or grater. If the voltage is lower, it may result in excessive errors
in isolation measurement.
4. Checking the conductor and ground connection is correctly the measurement in earth
shall be zero 0V. Set the range switch to 5000 V position and press the “PRESS TO TEST”
5. Measurements (Precise Measurement) Set the range switch to the desire position and
press the “PRESS TO TEST” button.

Calculation formula :
Polarization Index = resistance value in 10 minutes (TIME2) / resistance value in 1 minute (TIME1)
Setting interval is as follows.
TIME1 00:10∼59:30 TIME2 00:20∼60:00 (Remarks : 00:10 means 10 seconds)
Since polarization Index varies with moisture absorption regardless of the shape or size of insulator,
it gives significant criteria to verify the insulation. Following table shows the criteria.
