1. First Internship experience in airport.

Degree.Thatcan make studentslearnandworkin real situationbefore theygraduated.Besides,itis
explorationthemselveswhattheyneedtowork.Therefore,Iwasa trainee studentsat AAI(Airport
authorityof India) AmritsarAirportonDecember11 2015.
In a firstweekof beingatrainee,Iwas assignedtolearnhow towork witha lovelyairgroundincheck-in
counter,Roll E. I learntaboutattachedbag tags and how to checkin passengers.Everybodywaskindto
me verymuch. Besides,Igave anessential informationaboutairlinesandairportstopassengers.Next
weeklater,Igot a chance tohelpcrewsto checkpassportsand boardingpasses,checkedseatsand
numberof passangersinBingoCard, andcalledforboardingand made final callsforflights.
In check-inweek,Iwasassignedtoadvise andserve passangersatself-check-inmachineorKIOSK
includingprintedandcollectedboardingpasses.Sometimes,IworkedinSalescounterandhelpofficers
to printqueue paper,findbaggage’sat lostandfoundarea forpassangers.
Last weekof trainingIwas assignedatAirside operational areaswhere differentactivatestake place
like todirectand coordinate airside /terminal side operations.
On the nextstage of operationsaircraftsare pre-plannedusing Gate Flow ManagementSystem
software (GAMS) whichderivesgraphical interfacefrom(AIMS) fortheirarrival/departureprocessand
are allocatedontheirspecificgatesaccordingto aircraftspecificationsandflighttypessuchas
international ordomestic. Aircraftare monitoredthroughthe radardisplayedflighttrackssystemfor
positional updatesduringthe flight, and afterlandingtheyare directedfromthe aproncontrolleron
the pre-designatedgate forgroundhandlingwhichincludesoff load,maintenance,securitychecks,
fuelingcatering,andfinal loading of passengersmail ,andfreight.
At the endof the daythe before securingmyshift,one of my final managerial dutiesisthe
consolidationof the worktourwhichpertainscrew debrief ,documentationof dailyactivities,
preparationof statisticsforthose activitiessuchastotal arrivingdepartingflightsincludingabreak
downto the typesof flight activityinternational ordomesticincludingpassenger flow.
I workedhere forone montharound250 hours.Afterbeingatrainee,Ican learnand know manythings
aboutAirline andAirport.Forexample,how tocheck-in,how toattach bag tags,how to check passports
and boardingpassesincludingworkingatKIOSKor self-check-inmachine,Airside operational The most
importantthingIlearntis to knowworkingsystemof crew andstaff inairlinesandairport I thinkitis
preciousmomentthatpeople hardlyexperience it.Moreover,Iwouldlike nextgenerationtobe trainee
here because theywill workinreal situationwithpassangersandcan keepthisexperience toapplyfor
the real work position.
WhenI finishedtobe atrainee,I got a certificate fromAAIAmritsarairport toconfirmthat I do was
theirtrainee studentsandcould workunderpressure quitewell.
