This document compares the cover design of a student's magazine to Q magazine, a real music publication. Both magazines use circles to highlight cover lines and advertise free items, and have cover lines that stretch across most of the front cover. However, the student magazine places the masthead over the main image while Q places it behind, and uses a longer shot for the main image where Q uses a close-up. The student magazine also keeps all cover lines on the left while Q uses both left and right sides, and includes two advertising circles versus Q's single circle in different positions.
