Project Abstract The DX group has initiated a review of its overall business operating model,
business processes and supporting Technology. This work is being undertaken
as part of a programme called “One DX”. The overall aim is to significantly
transform and radically improve the business in line with strategic business
drivers. Currently DX has many different operational tools across the different
business units and hence users view and input data in many different systems.
A single user role requires access to several different tools in order to view or
input the necessary information to manage freight or couriers.
The purpose of the overall Operations Control project is to provide the right
operational data in a single portal that enables each service centre
management team to control the service performance, quality and cost in a
centralized manner.
The two main phases in the project involved the below tasks:
1. Services for creating/updating/deleting data in various legacy systems
are implemented and exposed on the ESB which are consumed
through a common user portal used by each service centre
management team enabling them to view and input data in different
systems using a single tool.
2. These services are also leveraged to implement various business
process models for flows where manipulation of data in different legacy
systems needs to go through some approval processes. The BPM
implementation provided an orchestrated view of the whole integration.
It also includes implementation of tasks for approvals required for
centralized data management
