money or articles which
are given by rich to the
poor. Zakkat is the
third pillar of Islam.

It is important for the child
to know
The meaning of zakkat
The rules, types, articles
for zakkat and the
beneficiaries of zakkat etc.
Since it is one of the pillars
of Islam.
6. The child will grow to know more about zakkat
,as he reaches the age .
He should perform zakkat the rightful way.
He will know that zakkat is presented by the
able (rich) to the poor and it is presented once
every year.

9. The money or goods on which zakkat
is to be paid must have been with
the owner for one full year. The
money or item must have reached
a certain minimum amount
There is a fixed rate for each of the
items on which zakkat is due.
Zakkat is given once a year.
There are specific people mentioned
by Allah to whom zakkat should
be given.
Rules for payment of zakkat
10. The basic Nisab calculation
Zakkat of Gold, silver or
currency used for transaction.
The Nisab is 2.5% or equivalent
to 85 grams of Gold.
Example:-
When the total annual gross
income is 1,000,000 x 2.5% =
N25,000
11. If you own 30 Cows for a year
you will give out
1 year old calf.
Zakkat Hisab for livestock
12. If you own five Camels for a
year you will give out
1 sheep.
If you own 40 sheep for a year
you will give out
1 sheep

13. Farmers need to pay the 5% Zakkat
rate on agriculture after grains
have been harvested.
10% without irrigation which is
each 10 bags you will give out 1
bag.
With irrigation which is 5%
In each 10 bags = ½ bag
Due to watering of the crops.

14. The poor, the needy, the people
appointed to collect and share
zakkat, the converts to Islam, the

(i.e. travellers in need) etc.
