Removal of redundant asbestos insulated
pipework running externally above the
roof of the old boiler house.
Amiante STR LTD were instructed by the
client to remove the Thermal insulation
coating to a redundant pipe running
externally from their old boiler House.
Due to the fibrous nature of the asbestos
insulation this works required a
notification to be submitted to the Health
and Safety Executive 14 days prior to the
works taking place. All removal works
were also to be undertaken in fully
controlled conditions with the use of
polythene enclosures.

PETE represents a process encompassing Health & Safety, risk assessment and project management.
PETE assists in ensuring that all aspects of a project are managed safely.

Works required a substantial amount of planning, a full Risk assessment and method statement were
produced, and further more a 14-day notification to the HSE had to be submitted prior to our start date.
Scaffolding & 4 stage Air Clearance tests were also arranged in the planning stage.

compliant for controlling the risks to People, Environment, Tools and Exposure].
The supply of power and water needed to be taken into consideration as the job was carried out externally.
Injection equipment was used to suppress the asbestos fibres coating the pipe.

Working at height - the pipe was situated on the roof of the old boiler house therefore required scaffolding to
