2. Ek-Onkar is not a name, It’s a sound.
All the sounds that we can hear come from a strike
between two things.
ਨਭਸਕਾਯ ਗੁਯਦਵ ਕ ਸਤਿਨਾਭ ਤਿਸ ਭੰਿਰ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ।
I bow before the Guru (Guru Nanak Dev) who
recited the Satnam mantra(for the world)
Satnam is referred to God as the Name of God is
True and Everlasting
All other names are provided by us. But His name is
True and that is Ek-Onkar.
Nature’s existence is hidden in the name of Ek Onkar.
Ek-Onkar evolve from itself. It doesn’t require anything else to start.
When all the sounds become disappear still there remains a sound.
3. ਬਵਿਰ ਤਵਚੋਂ ਕਤਿ ਕ ਭੁਕਤਿ ਦਾਯਥ ਭਾਤਿ ਸਭਾਇਆ।
Getting (the creatures) across the world ocean He
raptly merged them in liberation.
ਬਵਿਰ is everything that keeps us in the worldly desires.
Those are freed from this ocean who Believed in Lord’s name

Anger, hate

4. ਿਨਭ ਭਯਣ ਬਉ ਕਤਿਆ ਸੰਸਾ ਯਗ ਤਵਮਗ ਤਭਿਾਇਆ।
He destroyed the fear of transmigration and
decimated the malady of doubt and separation.
Life is a journey
not a destinationNothing is permanent except death.
Everything will come to an end.
Those who believe in this, get
themselves free from pride of all
their possessions.
Lord’s name destroyed the fear of
birth and death among their
devotees. Difficulty of doubt and
separation is also removed .
5. The world is only illusion and living here only depends
on how we see the things, how we perceive them, how
we react to them.
Our reaction means everything.
If we change the way to look at things,
the things we look at will change.
ਸੰਸਾ ਇਿੁ ਸੰਸਾਯੁ ਿ ਿਨਭ ਭਯਣ ਤਵਤਚ ਦੁਖ ਸਫਾਇਆ।
The world is only illusion which carried with it
much of birth, death and sufferings.
6. ਿਭ ਦੰਡ ਤਸਯੋਂ ਨਾ ਉਿਯ ਸਾਕਿ ਦੁਯਿਨ ਿਨਭੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ।
The fear of the rod of Yama is not dispelled and the sakts,
the followers of the goddess, have lost their lives in vain.
“A man with outward courage dares to die;
A man with inner courage dares to live.”
Life is too short to start your day with broken
pieces of yesterday, it will definitely destroy your
wonderful today and ruin your great tomorrow.
Everyone will die in the end by the rod of yama, but it
doesn’t matter. What matters most is how we lived
our life. If we truly lived our life in God’s hand, god
will take care of us in the end and afterwards.
7. ਚਯਨ ਗਿ ਗੁਯਦਵ ਦ ਸਤਿ ਸਫਦ ਦ ਭੁਕਿ ਕਯਾਇਆ।
Those who have caught hold of the feet of the Guru have
been liberated through the true Word.
ਧਰੁ ਧਯਭੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਾ ੂਿੁ॥
The white bull (believedto be actually supportingthe earth)
is dharam, which is the offspringof compassion(daya)
i.e. dharam borne out of compassion is the support upholding the
earth. Along with these virtues, it is contentment (santokh), which
keepsthe world in balance.
All of us are held together by being kind, caring and
sympathetic towards each other. Its only being kind and
compassionate that keep us on the track of helping
others. That’s where service is originated.
On being Content with yourself and things around you,
will keep you focus for worship.
8. ਬਾਉ ਬਗਤਿ ਗੁਯੁਯਫ ਕਤਯ ਨਾਭ ਦਾਨ ਇਸਨਾਨ ਤਦਰੜ੍ਹ੍ਿਾਇਆ।
Now being full of loving devotion they celebrate the gurpurabs
(anniversaries of the Gurus) and their acts of remembrance of God,
charity and holy ablutions, inspire others also.
9. ਿਿਾ ਫੀਉ ਿਿਾ ਪਰੁ ਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
As someone sows, so he reaps.
