Personal Profile
I am a reliable, conscientious person who will strive to perform to the best of my ability. I
am highly motivated, organised and a good communicator on all levels. I enjoy new
challenges and look forward to working with others to achieve the best possible
outcome. I have 12 years experience working autonomously as a regional in- house
Occupational Health Technician planning my own diary to achieve yearly targets for a
large food manufacturing company covering the North East, whilst being part of the in-
house service nationally.

Select Achievements
 I was the first Occupational Health Technician in the business, 2004
 Worked alongside advisor to set the standards for new ways of working to obtain
legal compliance for the business.
 Following the changes of controlling noise at work 2005 regulations. Having
undergone training, I was set a project to feed back to the business the criteria to
set the standards for many of the procedures now used across the business
including Audiometery.
 A three year rolling programme for health surveillance was developed which has
just completed its fourth cycle. A database was developed detailing information
on findings. I was tasked with producing statistics on BMI , musculoskeletal
issues, referral’s to GP’s, which I feed back to the business.
 Completed the United Biscuits “Competency Development Work Book For
Occupational Health Technicians” 2010
 Working with the government agenda for public health promotion, providing the
business with information on national health campaigns.
 I have networked with outside agencies; bringing into the business onsite support
with specialists on Stopping Smoking, Healthy Hearts Checks, Healthy Eating,
Cancer Awareness, Stress Awareness. I have also liaised with local gyms to
supply the business with concessionary rates for memberships.
 2008 achieving the Little Apple Award from the Occupational Health Magazine
for an MSD awareness programme at Phileas Fogg Consett.
 2014 achieving the bronze level for Better Health @ Work Award for Teesside.
 Involved in new regulations regarding smoking in the workplace July 2007. Set
up Smoking Cessation Sessions on site, giving ongoing support to employees
who wised to give up smoking. Established good links with a representative with
North Tees PCT for use of best practise to enable the site to ensure the smooth
implementations of the new regulations. This was used by North Tees PCT as “a
model of good practice”
Role and Responsibilities
 Trained to carry out Health Surveillance Medicals, Employment Medicals, Role to
Role Medicals, FLT. New Employee Paper Screening, Triage and referral to
Advisor.
 Qualified to carry out drug screening on all employment medicals.
 I am an integral part of a robust absence procedure. The first point of contact for
the service for absence, triaging to Advisor, Physiotherapist, Manager. Working
with key stakeholders, Managers, HR, Labour Management and communicating
course of action whilst maintaining confidentiality. Diary management of Advisor
and Physiotherapist, sending out letters and emails to provide an audit trail and
keeping medical files up to date. Producing Long / Short Term Sickness
absence report back to business on a weekly with basis with outcomes of
interventions, whilst providing absence statistics to the business.
 Working within the claims process to ensure timely and accurate closure.
 Working within a Manager Referral System booking into Advisors and
Physiotherapist diaries, dealing with absence prevention, employee referrals, and
short term absence.
 Qualified first aider. Producing power point presentation for yearly updates to all
first aider’s within the business. Conducting update training to all first aider’s in
North East with Advisor. Ordering first aid stock, to ensure appropriate levels of
in date stock are held. Ensuring that all sites across the North East have supplies
of First Aid equipment. Carrying out First Aid Needs Risk Assessments across
both sites in to determine the site requirements meets with safety needs.
 Trained to carry out risk assessments on new installations using the ART Tool for
repetitive tasks of the upper limbs. Working with Safety Co-ordinator to produce
data base of all upper limb activities, and develop a plan to risk assess all tasks,
on installation working with project engineers and site safety team.
 Trained to carry out DSE assessments
 Active member of Site Safety Action Team.
 Planning, organising, and participating in Health Promotion Events for KP Snacks
across the business.
