Annual Report
2014
OUR VOLUNTEERS ARE SUPER! IN THIS ISSUE
We couldn’t do it without our
wonderful volunteers. It is no
secret here at SHELTER we
couldn’t meet the needs of
our clients without the helping
hands of our volunteers. You
help us achieve our duties to
our community. Volunteers,
we thank you all for your
kindness and hard work. Our
staff knows we couldn’t do it
without you. Your help
touches the lives of the men,
women and children with
diverse needs throughout our
campus. There is nothing more
rewarding than to work with
such passionate people who
come to our shelter wanting to
help those in need. We have
had wonderful volunteers
come through this past year.
Thank you to our business
groups and individuals who
come through every year with
donations that help us keep
our campuses stocked with
everyday hygiene products.
See page 5 for all of our
volunteer appreciations,
individuals, groups and
superstars.
Our Chase ballpark volunteer
thank you, recognition and
relaxation day was a hit.
Next year will be just as great.
Why our Volunteers Matter
and Opportunities
Why w e love and need our volunteers continued
support.

Volunteer service has a value ($23.07/hr*)
In 2014 we had 1114 volunteers give 79,387hours
= $1,790,176.85
*http://www.independentsector.org/volunteer_time
$1,790,176.85
Why we depend on our volunteers
Nonprofits under strain from:
- Executive and Leadership retiring
- High turnover
- Economic crisis (grant cuts)
Without our wonderful volunteers our organization would be in crisis. They save us time and money.
Theyhelp us free up time to focus on other areas. The organization would have to spend less money on
its programs that assist our clients.
Example of projects they tackle. We have tones of clothing donations that come in on a daily basis.
Without our volunteers everydepartment would need to dedicate manpower to get our closet replenished,
cleaned and donations would need to be sorted. It was calculated there was 53,000 hours dedicated to
our clothing closet and donation center
