You will be required to enter your
name, social security number,
birthdate, address, and phone number
(the site is secured by Norton Se-
cured).
Want to boost your credit score easily
and quickly? Stop receiving “Pre-
Approved” offers! The FTC has a list
(much like the “Do Not Call” list—the
“Opt-Out” list. When you add your
name and social security number to it,
financial institutions, such as credit card
companies or loan companies, cannot
buy your name from the list to pre-
approve you for offers. Not only does
this stop a ton of junk mail from going
to you, but it raises your credit score
(up to 40 points!).

really point you in the right
direction, no matter how
much or little you
make, how much you have
in savings, or where you

* Your credit score is ex-
tremely important to get
approved for anything,
from a Rent-A-Center
nightstand to a $500,000
house! The website www.
creditkarma.com is a free
website, no subscription
necessary, that helps you
monitor your finances. It is
completely safe and legit
andprovides you unlimited
access to your credit score
(TransUnion). Credit
Karma also provides
sound credit advice and
personalizes it to your
credit evaluation.
* In 2005, the government
passed a law that consum-
ers are allowed one free
credit report per
year. Your credit report
shows everything pertain-
ing to you—where you
have lived, your social
security number, every
credit-reporting account
you have opened. If there
are errors on your
report, it is important to get
them corrected. Negative
things on a credit report af-
fect your credit
score. On the flip side,
positive things on a credit
report affect your credit
score. While there are a
TON of scams online for
free credit reports, the
OFFICIAL website for the
free annualcredit report is
www.annualcreditreport.
com. It is completely se-
cure and safe. Your report
will be available immedi-
ately to print and will be
available to view for 30
days.
