2. Multimedia combines five basic types
of media to make it more interactive
namely:
TEXT
VIDEOS
SOUND
GRAPHICS
ANIMATION

5. One industry that is making
notable advances in the field of
immersive media is video games.
Despite immersive media being a
dream in the industry for some
time, it is only recently that
developments have started to
take off. Video game makers are
working to take the gaming
experience to the level of a virtual
reality through the design of
special headgear, 3D glasses and
walking equipment.
An example of a development in
this field is Oculus Rift. The
Oculus Rift gaming experience
utilizes a special headset and a
360-degree environment. Oculus
Rift's CEO has stated that he
anticipates the release of games
ranging from shooting games for
adults to pet games for kids.
6. In addition to using
immersive multimedia as
a form of entertainment,
many also use it as a
means of job or combat
training. Pilots sometimes
use simulated flight
games to practice flying,
while military personnel
may use it for combat
training.
7. A picture speaks a thousand
words, and when the picture is
an x-ray, ultrasound, MRI
scan, or other medical image,
it is an essential chapter in a
person’s health history. Every
day, doctors, nurses, and other
health care professionals rely
on such images—as well as
videos, sound files, and other
multimedia produced by
current medical technologies—
in diagnosing or monitoring
illnesses and planning a
patient’s care.
Multimedia files can show rich
and complex data that are
otherwise hard to convey in
words, but incorporating them
in electronic health records
(EHRs) presents a number of
challenges.
8. The Electronic Patient Record system
has been developed to transform
the way that patient information is
recorded and shared, and to aid
clinical decision making. Once fully
implemented, the system will
provide significant benefits to
patients, the Trust and the wider
healthcare community.
All hospital staff directly involved in
patient care will be able to share
important information about their
patients quickly e.g. test results and
diagnoses
By having quicker access to patient
records, including any prescriptions
or allergies, hospital staff will be
able to provide more effective care
The patients’ health record will be
updated with each hospital visit,
