• Origin (Cosmology)- the
beginning: What is the
original cause?
• Supernatural - a
design and purpose –
every religion has an
answer

• Natural - the mere
collision of random
atoms?
• Atheism asserts this
while Agnosticism does
not know
• Post-modernism as non
rational “what does it
matter?” Reject purpose.

3. MEANING – PURPOSE
• Epistemology
• Describes with words nouns,
verbs, etc. that have a meaning
• Post modernism – Deconstructs -
a word to mean whatever we wish
• Purpose – Design (Ontology)
the reason for which something is
done or created.
• Words exist such as: motive,
cause, reason, basis,
justification, resolve, dedication,
intension, aim, or plan

4. MORALITY –
THE PRESENT
• Morality: what is right and
wrong behavior - ethics
• Ethical framework
• Describe wrong: If you
can describe wrong you
must be able to describe
right. If right exists
there must be a moral
law. This implies a
moral law giver.
• Who is this moral law giver
- the State, a Religion, a
Philosophy, a Person?

5. DESTINY – THE FUTURE
Utopia
• An imagined place where
everything is perfect. The word
was from Sir Thomas Moore
1516 and his book Utopia
• Synonyms: paradise, heaven
(on earth), Eden, Garden of
Eden, Shangri-La, Elysium;
idyll, nirvana, God's country
Nihilism
• The rejection of all religious
and moral principles – often
the belief that life is
meaningless – skepticism,
negativity, cynicism, pessimism
• As a philosophy extreme
skepticism that nothing in
world has a real end but
annihilation
