So, I had the pleasure of sitting down and chopping it up
with someone from the 90’s
who rapped alongside one of hip
hop’s favorite rap trios for a minute, and had the most ether
influenced bars for his age. JHood did 21 questions with me,
just recently on KaraKhaotic.com
and certain things about his interview stood out. First off, J-Hood
mentions that his maturity has
played a heavy role in his new and
improved way of flowing. We remember J-Hood, even with his
fierce bars, being a teenager—
youngest of the D-Block squad.
Well, today, the emcee is independent, making his own moves
along the east coast and the rest

of the country. I wasn’t happy to
hear that his young ambitious
artist didn’t really keep in touch
with the Lox member, although
he stated that its all love for DBlock on his end. We chatted
about a few things, even MCHG,
in which J-Hood says he’s down
with the Holy Grail lyricism, over
Kanye’s ‘Yeezus’. When the
Zimmerman trial ended, J-Hood
shared the exact same feelings
as most of us– enraged. On a
funny note, I even through the
bogus question of ‘Do you like
Beyonce’s new haircut’ in the
interview mix, and with a comedic return J-Hood only laughed
and said ‘It doesn’t matter if
she’s not coming home to me.’
Now, in case you had no earthly idea
who Black Jeruz of N.C. is, today is
literally your lucky day. If you hold any
interest in the indie world, you’d know
that Jeruz is the producer behind many
of the state’s production, with indie artists. Black Jeruz began making beats
after a career of actually being an emcee. He found quickly, into rapping on
the Southside of Raleigh, DC, he had
other qualities about him musically that
should be put to work. Black Jeruz just
sat down with Chakara to drop a few
production tips to anyone currently practicing the fine art of music production.
Check out what jewels, Black Jeruz
drops on young and coming producers.

ARTIST OF THE MONTH
Is the Carolina artist that many street rap
fans may crave. He uses his own sound
to
match down south beats with heavy 808s, and he seems to
have a master plan formula on laying down hooks. Now, you’ll find
Way2Gutta on tracks with those like Cash Mulahh, and his third partner in crime Cocky Rocky. Just recently, Gutta released his first mixtape debut entitled ‘Time Is Now’, hosted by DJ Holiday. The nineteen
track mixtape includes features from artists like those listed above, as
well as Sequence and Pooh Bear, both incredible NC R&B artists.
Gutta represents the 919 area, and can be followed via Twitter

memorable verses from J-Hood.
This tape is exactly what J-Hood is
presently capable of, and no one
can stop this independent grind—
apparently. ‘Featuring Hood’ the
tape consists thirty tracks, with titles
of pure simplicity. The bars on this
tape contradict that though, because there is no simplicity in the
way J-Hood rhymes. As far as
what’s next for J-Hood, it could be
the movie biz. According to the
seasoned artist, he wrote a movie
entitled ‘Perseverance’, that will
include cast members like Shyheim
from Wu-Tang Clan and Yukmouth.

With the many young and new
producers entering the game today,
especially in the Carolina’s, some
for sure knowledge from a person
who accomplished so much is
necessary. I had the pleasure of
chopping it up with a good friend
and multi-platinum producer ,Black
Jeruz, about the producing dream
and its plight. This thirty something
producer has already reached multi
platinum record status in the pro-
scenes in September. The most
intriguing part of the interview is JHood mentioning the fact that he’s
almost ready to give birth to his first
non-fiction novel, entitled ‘My Mother’s Son’, hopeful to be ready for
release at the end of the year. With
artists like Jhene' Aiko and
Goapelle on J-Hood’s wish list of
artists to work with, the young talented boss will prove his reign once
again. Frequenting the Charlotte,
N.C. area often, J-Hood without a
doubt proclaimed any place that
sells real ‘soul food’ to be his favorite eatery stops while in the Carolina’s. Stay tuned to what J-Hood
has in store for fans by following the

ducer world and he had a couple of
things to share to young producers
just jumping in the game. Black
Jeruz, a native of Raleigh, N.C.
says his deal with Universal Records came along after a lot of really
hard work and dedication. The
focused producer landed a deal
with Universal Records, landing his
work on albums belonging to 50
Cent and other G-Unit artists. ‘The
main thing that’s important to me as

a producer is, ‘identity’, Jeruz states
when it comes to making original
production. Having one’s own
sound and style, as a producer, is
detrimental to longevity, Jeruz also
stated. ‘Quality over quantity’ is the
motto this accomplished producer
places in the forefront of tips to
producers. To follow Black Jeruz’s
