WORK EXPERIENCE
Fluid Metrology Co-Op Intern at Cummins Inc., Columbus, Indiana, USA:- August ’15 – Dec. ’15
Developed the test screen and the code for an automated injector assembly machine (1st
of its kind) using Visual
C++. It included deciding the appropriate sequential steps to be followed for the process, designing the technician
friendly screen and troubleshooting the machine.
Performed Gage R & R on the Mechanical Dump Valve (MDV) Test Rig using Minitab software to compare the
performance of the test rig with the similar test rigs present at different Cummins facility around the world.
Worked on Low cost table top injector test bench and trobleshooted it after analysing its performance using
Minitab Gage R & R plots.
Documented the working and calibration of the MDV test rig for the technicians in China and Germany to follow.
Participated in Engine Familiarization training, Engine Design training, Computational Fluid Dynamics (ANSYS CFX)
and worked with machines like EDM, 3D printers, SEM imaging, X-Ray scanning etc.
Research Volunteer at Nanostructured Energy Systems Labs, University of Florida:- October ’14 – May ’15
Worked on Prof Saeed Moghaddam’s projects like developing Hierarchical biphilic micro/nanostructures for a new
generation phase-change heat sink and Absorption Refrigeration.
Designed model using Gambit, conducted experiments and fabricated models for carrying out experiments.
COURSE PROJECTS
SUPRA SAE-INDIA:- August ’11 – Sept. ’12
Designed the cooling system for the stock engine of Maruti 800cc car which involved dual radiators, single pass,
arranged in parallel combination, with louvered fins. Also designed the gear shifting mechanism.
Experienced in production processes like grinding, drilling and processes on Lathe machine.
Worked with a team of 30 students for building a race car to compete in SUPRA SAE-INDIA 2012, contributed to
the Engine and Power train department.
Aqua Duct - Mobile filtration vehicle:- October ’13 – Feb. ’14
A modified tricycle which is used to store and transfer water from one place to another. The major advantage of
this is that while transferring water it also purifies it.
Designed a model using standard components to make it cost effective.
Design of a Supersonic Wind Tunnel:- October ’14 – Nov. ’14
Calculated the throat area, tunnel stagnation pressure, storage volume and mass flow rate in the tunnel for a set
of Mach numbers, and suggested the best operating Mach no. for the wind tunnel.
Designed the wind tunnel with respect to the position of the shock in the test section.
Used MS Excel spreadsheet to carry out the iterative calculations and displayed the results graphically.
2. Engineering Entrepreneurship – Smart containers for smart storage:- January ’16 – April ’16
Worked with a team of 5 people and developed our Minimum Viable Product (MVP); an Internet of Things (IoT)
based smart container using Particle Photon, ultrasonic sensors and C++ programming.
The smart container monitors the level of the content stored and alerts on the cellphone when it falls below a
threshold value.
Successfully delivered our company’s value proposition in an effective and efficient manner thereby winning the
best performing company in the course.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
1) Worked as Joint technical head of the mechanical department. Organized technical events in the college under
Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA). August ’13 – Feb. ’14
2) Teaching experience of 3 years to high school students for Mathematics course. June ’11 – May ’14
3) Worked as the Vice-President for Indian Graduate Students Association (IGSA) at UF. January ’15 – April ’16
