Foundation
To install simple, inexpensive and environmentally friendly bottle lights to
light homes and streets in impoverished communities
In India this program was introduced in 2011
The first trial was done in Vikarabad a rural village Telangana
It is successfully installed and still working and program is expended to
other states of India Gujrat, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and
Hyderabad

5. How it works
The device is simple: a transparent 1.5–2 L plastic bottle, as typically
used for carbonated drinks, is filled with water plus a little bleach to
inhibit algal growth and fitted into a hole in a roof
One can make a bottle light that refracts natural sunlight and
produces up to 55 watts of clear light across a 40 square meter room
The bottle lights, which require no electricity, are inserted through the
roofs of houses and sealed to prevent leaks
