MRI is nothing but magnetic resonance imaging .
MRI is first introduced by RAYMOND VAHAN
DAMANDIAN ,in the year 1977.
Unit of MRI is ‘tesla’’.

Magnet room should be shielded with faradays cage.

5. ABOUT MRI MACHINE
The machines are large tube shaped magnets ,when
you lie inside an MRI machine the magnetic field
temporarily railings hydrogen atom in your body.
MRI has no radiation .
The scan time of MRI takes approximately (30-
40)mints.
In MRI we can identify tissues and abnormalities .
In MRI we can do Angiogram with out contrast.

7. PROCESS OF SCAN
• When a patient is placed in the strong magnetic field
in MRI SCANNER, The hydrogen nucleus in the body,
align with the applied external magnetic field when
exposed to short brush of electromagnetic energy in
the form of radiofrequency(RF) PULSE.
• The hydrogen nuclei in the patients body absorb its
energy and then generate MR signal. This absorbing
energy is known as “magnetic resonance .”

9. PRECAUTION OF RADIOLOGY
DEPARTMENT
IN Radiology department X-ray, CT,Mammography,
OPG— has radiation .
MRI & ULTRASOUND has no radiation.
IN MRI Metals, mobiles, watch,etc… are not allowed.
LEAD Aprons must wear in radiation rooms like x-
Ray, CT, etc…..
Technician must use TLD Badge in radiation room.
Pregnant ladies should not allow in to the radiation
room but can enter into the MRI.
