1. Article 1
This is an article from ITV News that I came across on Facebook
that I decided to share. This is an article that shows the argument
that took place between Piers Morgan and transgender model
Munroe Bergdorf because of a tweet that she posted which had
then led to her being dropped from L'Oréal Paris. The quote had
seemingly infuriated Piers as he felt that Munroe was ‘victimising
herself’ as she provided her explanations to her tweet. Discussing
that she was talking about a social structure that all white people
follow, one which enables white privilege which then leads to
social violence.
I believe that the target audience for this article is for people who
are interested in certain views when it comes to racism, I also
think that many people had certain views on what she said and as
a result I did see a lot of comments, including one from a friend of
mine from the US who decided to comment on Munroe’s
statement about the education system. The article is quite
informal as it consists of a video clip which a caption giving a
simple explanation of what is taking place in the clip.
The reason why I decided to click on this and share it is because I
am interested in peoples opinions when it comes to racism due to
the fact that I am very passionate with the topic of diversity and
eradicating racism.
The presentation of this article is quite informal due to the fact that
it is on Facebook so it a further link wasn’t provided to read the full
story.

2. Article 2 – Daily Mail Online (

This is an article written by Thomas Burrows who is a
journalist at Mail Online. This is an article discussing the
tragic death of a 16 year old Jordan Keates who
committed suicide after a nurse said that the suicide risk
was ‘minimum’. I feel that the intended audience for this
article is parents of young teenagers. My reason for
saying this is that I believe the purpose of this article was
to be informative and address an ongoing situation. This
article is one that is presented in quite a formal manner,
however due to the fact that this was posted today there
is minimal information.
This is quite a formal article which was written in a
delicate manner in order to respect the family that is
being discussed, I also found it interesting to read the
comments that were being left on this article. My reason
for this is that I think that allowing people to express their
feelings for what is happening in the news. Many of the
opinions are rather negative and there are many people
who debate with each other.
Mail Online has a similar layout for all articles that are
posted in this website. There is an article that has many
advertisements on either side of the article promoting
various products and companies. I think that this takes
away from the formality of the website.

3. Article 3- Metro
This is an article written by Daniel Binns discussing the
background of the Parsons Green bomber and the way
that he was arrested. I decided to focus on the sub
article which had discussed where he was arrested
and how the manager of the establishment seemed to
have no remorse during his employees arrest, which
had led police to suspect that the manager may have
has some involvement in it or was aware of what was
going to take place. I would say that the target
audience is whoever would be following this story,
maybe friends and family of victims that were affected
by this.
This was an article that was written to inform people
and I feel like the layout of this is very similar to other
news articles in other newspapers such as The Sun,
there aren’t many advertisements on this article in
comparison to the rest of the articles within the
newspaper, I think that the reason for this was to
highlight this story as this is a situation that has
happened recently and this is a topic that has been in
the public eye.
I personally decided to read this article because I am
interested in the activity that has been taking place
and I personally find it interesting to find out more
about these people and what their intentions were and
what possibly caused them to be like this.

4. Article 4 – This Morning

This is a Youtube video of This Morning, which
addresses a topic that was reported in the news station
that a politician who is part of the UKIP party had
decided that a ban on burkas should be banned. This is
linked to the articles that were written by ITV news on
this specific topic. I believe that the target audience are
mainly Muslims between the ages of 15 onwards, my
reason for thinking this is that this is usually the age
when most girls start wearing the burka. I personally had
an interest in this due to the fact that I am Muslim and
even though I personally don’t wear the burka, I am still
interested and intrigued with the political views.
This is quite a formal in terms of news broadcasting
because the presenters first talk about the topic that is
going to be debated, and this then leads onto their
debate.
I personally was intrigued with this article and I was
drawn to it due to he fact that I find debates interesting
especially when it comes to the topic of religion. As there
are many conflicting ideas and opinions.
